Apple does actually help design their processors - and while they are using the ARMv8 instruction set, as I mentioned above, are not the same as Qualcomm or Samsung designs (note the use of design vs manufacture)

Also, the idea of whether Apple has "invented" anything is a moot point. They've been quite successful for a number of reasons, and whether you think they copied ideas from others to get there, a lot of the things they did were excellent refinements of existing technology. The iPod, iPhone, and even iPad were not the first of their kind, but it's not hard to see how Apple refined them. It wasn't all marketing!
