Where are you more likely to end up in a pool of blood? A suburb or a city?

You might be surprised . . . .

I found the old trolley tracks coming up through the pavement in Ann Arbor, MI.  Oh the irony of not maintaining our roads for the silly car.

January 2014: 3rd HOTTEST on Earth.  Might come as surprise to those in the dark blue parts of the map (i.e. Siberia and the Eastern United States).

Really?  Sure we need to remove blight and replace it with life-enhancing buildings.  But is the landfill the best use for these materials?  How about we get armies of Detroiters, volunteers and for profit business to deconstruct these buildings and put the valuable materials into warehouses where they can be used to RE-construct the city.

MK-  Landfill?  We followed a few trucks in the late 1980s - early 1990s and found very creative disposing of construction debris.  + check out where basements once were.

Story
Introduction
Matt has been called "one of regional Detroit's most progressive personalities."  He is a producer, founder of Thrive - a net zero energy consulting collaborative, host of Greenovation.TV, a contributor to the Environment Report on public radio, a lecturer, and the green renovation expert for Old House Web.  He is one of the most respected advocates and authorities on green renovations for existing homes.  Matt has a Mission Zero goal to eliminate the negative environmental impact of every home in America.

His home was selected as one of USA Today's "Best Green Homes of 2010" and was praised as "Sustainable Perfection" by The Atlantic.  It is America's oldest and Michigan's first net-zero energy home, meaning it annually produces more energy than his family consumes.

He has been featured in the pages and on the airwaves of USA TODAY, Washington Post, Detroit Free Press, Miami Herald, Preservation Magazine, Travel Girl Magazine, Photon International, Solar Today, Hour Magazine, Fox Business News, NPR syndicates, NBC4, Paul W. Worst car rental experience. I am a frequent business traveler and spend thousands of dollars each year on rental cars. I have never experienced such outrageously poor customer service. It took me longer to receive my car after landing at LAX than it took me to fly from Detroit to LAX. Standing in line took over 2.5 hours. The car was dirty. When I dropped off the car - I waited another 10 minutes with no help from any attendant. The shuttle van arrived and I had to catch my flight - so I left the vehicle with the keys at the drop off line without waiting for my receipt. For the next several days I received an unknown 800 number on my phone which I did not answer. No messages were left. Three days later I finally got a message from this number with an automated message saying that the car had not been returned and may be considered stolen. I have now been on hold for over half an hour trying to contact Dollar's security department to resolve this outrageous problem. No telling how much more of my busy day will be needed to resolve this issue. One thing for sure, I will NEVER be renting from Dollar again. Read other reviews. You'll see I'm not alone. Shame on this company.
