Gwent public beta just launched and it should be available to everybody now. Huge changes to many aspects of the game landed. Looking forward to playing and streaming some more of this.

(Since I posted my stream about two weeks ago I've played hours of this in closed beta. Still not convinced it's "better" than Hearthstone, but it's certainly compelling and a very different experience.)

Because "you've shown interest in Impeachment".

Is the "brilliant PC trick" replacing your right-Shift key with a Delete key?

Sounds like a fun prank for your friends, or just to mess with yourself. I'm curious as to whether you're supposed to also map the key to Delete or just have it perform Shift duties.

I took a photo of a bat taking flight.

It was perched in the tree and I wanted to take a close-up photo of it. My flash must've scared it because it took off right as the shot fired.

(We have a lot of bats at twilight in Glebe.)

I streamed my entry experience into Gwent, the Witcher card game. It was fun!

It's a collectible card game, a lot like Hearthstone but with a bit of a twist: you play a best-of-3 rounds and draw very few cards in between rounds, which means you need to save up your cards (you can't just focus on winning the current round). A lot of the strategy is baiting your opponent into using too many cards to win a round, so that you can win the others.

Gwent was actually a mini-game in The Witcher 3, which I only played about 10 hours of back when it came out. I've been getting back into it lately and finally started to take the Gwent mini-game seriously. Once I got the hang of that, I figured it was time to sign up for the stand-alone multiplayer version of Gwent. It has a lot more interesting cross-card interactions compared to the one in TW3. I'm enjoying it.

Edit: It's in beta, so you have to sign up and wait a few days to get in.

"I don’t know if the Q&A guy was sincerely hurt by Colbert’s joke or just thought he could use my own principles to trap me. I’m happy to believe the former, but if it’s the latter, sorry, that’s not how principles work."

"Pretending to care about gay people’s safety and humanity so you can use it as leverage to further your agenda of destroying gay lives is one of the most repulsively cynical ploys I’ve ever seen from a repulsive, cynical party.

"Republicans have been fighting to strip gay people of legal protections and equal rights for decades. Suddenly, they’re demanding apologies and doling out pink slips for homophobia? Fine. I expect your apologies in writing and your resignations by Friday."

I applaud HuffPo's approach to journalism on Trump. Here's an example of their work. Quote him and state his position up front, immediately call bullshit, then spend the rest of the article showing how bullshit he is.

In the age of Trump we simply don't have time to give equal space to all sides of the story.

StarCraft: Brood War just got released for free, along with a new patch. This is ahead of the upcoming (mid-2017) release of StarCraft: Remastered (so if you are waiting to replay this classic, best to wait until then).
