+Puleen Patel I just heard. Also, gasoline engine. Nope.

I'd be all over that car if it had been a Tesla.

This weekend I ran my 2015 Ford Mustang Ecoboost in the autocross competition at the Good Guys car show in Pleasanton, CA. It was a lot of fun and definitely the largest car show I've ever seen. I recorded my final (and fastest) run through +Google Glass

No worries =) Even though the course was small it was still a lot of fun to watch people run it, especially the pro class. Al Unser Jr was there running the pro class. Another advantage of a course that can be run in about a minute is that a lot of people get to run it multiple times.

If anyone is looking for a high quality 21:9 monitor at a great price, you should check out the ASUS MX299Q at Fry's. It's a 29" 21:9 2560x1080 IPS display on sale for $299 (after a $40 mail in rebate...which I always send in). I picked one up today and it's beautiful. Anandtech gave it a very good rating and it has good reviews on Amazon. It doesn't have VESA mount points but otherwise it's damn near perfect (and besides, some industrial 3M double-sided tape will do the job if you want to mount it). It also comes with DVI, HDMI and microUSB->HDMI MHL cables, and has surprisingly nice Bang & Olufsen speakers built-in.

I overheard a coworker ask "are they showing Fifty Shades of Grey on IMAX?" - I laughed and dismissed it, paused, did a quick Google search, and discovered that they are.

+Renaud Lepage I'm going to be nice this time. I'm not going to say anything in reply to that last comment. Instead, I'm going to go drink beer.

Ok, I need a geek intervention here - +Renaud Lepage just built a really nice 4790k/16GB system and is insisting on getting the old Gentoo install (from a different, older box) that's currently on the SSD to boot. Kernel panics everywhere. Please help me talk some sense into him to do a fresh install.

Conversation with a coworker this morning
Him: "Cool microphone - what's it called?"
Me: "The Snowball"
Him: "That's kind of an odd name, why not just call it the Ball?"
Me: "Would you buy the "Blue Ball" microphone?"

Before I knew anything about recording, I used to plug one of these into Audacity, stick it in front of my guitar amp or acoustic, and call it good. Sound quality wasn't half bad on it considering.

Has anyone figured out how to carry IP traffic over smoke signals yet? Because I would prefer that over having to talk to a Comcast representative for just 5 more fucking seconds.

Introduction
I'm a tech guy. As of May 2012, I've been a professional developer for 15 years. My father had to drive me to and from my first web developer job because I was too young to get a driver's license. Writing code and making things work is not just a job, it's a passion.

I'm also into cars (I've had two cars with engines that I've personally built and installed), play 8-ball and 9-ball in APA leagues, and enjoy gardening to occasionally get my eyes off of flickering pixels.

I spent the first 30 years of my life in the Boston area, then I got tired of the cold weather and snow and moved out to California. The only thing I regret about moving to Silicon Valley from Boston is not doing it 5 years earlier.

Earlier today I visited Fremont Ford to look at a new Mustang. Specifically, a 2015 Mustang turbo. They were the only dealer in the bay area that had the exact car I wanted and now I'm glad they were because their sales team was an absolute pleasure to work with. My salesman Omar Omari was extremely friendly and helpful and the finance manager is an absolute magician!! I wasn't sure if I could even get financing approved for this vehicle - not only did he get me approved but I got a low interest rate with a small down payment, they took over $1000 off the sticker (without me even asking) and I was given more than the KBB value for my trade-in. I've purchased several cars in my life and this was the best buying experience I've ever had. Definitely ask if Omar is available when you arrive - I wish every car salesman was like him!

I've worked with many automotive and motorcycle repair shops over the years and Spec-1 is one of the absolute best. Glen and his crew took my old, beat-up Honda Nighthawk 750 and made it run like new again. Not only that but they answered all my questions, patiently provided me with updates every time I called (which was almost once a day) and even fixed problems on the bike that I didn't know were there. All of this for a very reasonable price - the final bill was far lower than I expected. You can trust these guys and know that qualified and honest mechanics are working on your ride.

The pharmacy manager - an older Asian man - isn't very helpful and insisted on giving me the wrong prescription. If possible, I recommend going to another pharmacy.
