"Windows 7 was a lie.": Paul Thurrott: It’s not pat to say that the Windows PC market went for volume over quality, because it did: Many of those 20 million Windows 7 licenses each month—too many, I think—went to machines that are basically throwaway, plastic crap. Netbooks didn’t just rejuvenate the market just as Windows 7 appeared, they also destroyed it from within: Now consumers expect to pay next to nothing for a Windows PC. Most of them ...

New in CSS: ‘all: default’ on an element blocks all inheritance & resets all properties, as if no rules specified.
Abstract. This CSS module describes how to collate style rules and assign values to all properties on all elements. By way of cascading and inheritance, values are propagated for all properties on all...

_If there were things that went wrong, then there is a lot of positive things that came from Google Reader, Wetherell said. He believed that one of the main reasons why Google Reader could exist was because companies and entities with completely conflicting agendas came together, supported RSS and other standards. Google, MoveableType, Blogger, WordPress, Flickr and several other web-apps believed in creating RSS feeds for easy consumption. “In the end it helped the average users,” said Wetherell.

But all that is behind us and we might not see similar altruism again, Wetherell theorized. I agree with him.  If in the early 2000s, Web 2.0 companies were building platforms that wanted to work with each other, today, we have platforms that are closed.  We live in the world of silos now. Twitter and Instagram have broken up. Facebook is the Soviet Union of the modern web. The new systems don’t offer RSS or feeds.”There is no common language of sharing,” he bemoans. And rightfully so!  And unless we have web giants speaking the same language of sharing, there seems to be no future of aggregation._

Tragedy of the WebKit Commons jQuery Core has more lines of fixes and patches for WebKit than any other browser. In general these are not recent regressions, but long-standing problems that have yet to be addressed. It’s starting to feel like oldIE all over again, but with a different set of excuses for why nothing can be fixed. Dave Methvin, member of the jQuery core team; President of the jQuery Foundation.

"I am afraid that I have to disappoint you. If we were using the
waterfall model, I could outline some very nice long term goals for you,
but we are doing AGILE development, so long term goals have not been
well defined."

What I find really funny about the Gentoo udev fork, that they themselves have no idea why they are forking at all.

This is just fantastic. Using "agile" as an excuse for having no clue.

What a troupe of clowns...
