To: Craig Newmark (Craigslist, Founder), John Donahoe (eBay, CEO), Jim Buckmaster (Craigslist, CEO). Every 30 seconds, a cyclist has their bike stolen in the United States. Nearly half of college students with bicycles will lose them during their education. Bicycle theft is rampant in the United ...

LOL! "The Onion had a little fun with it, too, it seems, adding to the end of the article, 'For more on this story: Please visit our Iranian subsidiary organization, Fars.'"

I want to believe that they're wrong, and that our entire law enforcement system isn't really doing the bidding of a single powerful drug manufacturer. I find it sad that it even sounds probable. Certainly, nothing else I've heard seems to make any sense.
Citing large donations to the Obama campaign as well as the upcoming release of Sativex (GW Pharmaceuticals), Young Turks host Cenk Uygur throws the blame at lobbyists.

How has Google still not released a G+ extension for Chrome? The website is ugly and seems to do nothing but ask me to fill out my profile and add friends. I might actually use it for social networking if I had a way to add a little feed to my browser like I can for Gmail or Facebook, but there's no way I'm going to keep a G+ window open all the time.

I don't see "trending" or "promoted" posts when I view https://plus.google.com . Maybe it's because you have almost no content to show, so they fill it up with that?

Fun idea for parents of small children (4-8 years) who have a netflix streaming account: Watch "Beakman's World" with them (it's a 90's science program like Bill Nye, but aimed younger and goofier), and then actually do the experiments. The experiments are fantastic. Very easy to put together, not expensive if you actually need to buy something (most I've spent so far is $6 for a bottle of glycerin from CVS to make our own bubble solution). The key is, skip through the episode looking for the experiments BEFORE you watch with your kids. Get the ingredients ready in the kitchen, turn on the show, then stop after watching Beakman do the experiment, and do it yourself with your kids. When you're done, just finish watching the show. Your kids will love it, and you'll probably learn a few things yourself.

When I get home, we're going to grow bacteria cultures, play with bubble solution we made ourselves two nights ago, use negative air pressure to suck a balloon into a jar, and make our own prism out of water and a mirror. How cool is that!

Not exactly an endorsement for Ron Paul becoming President, but certainly an endorsement for him having a place in the GOP primary, and a stinging criticism on Obama. It'd be pretty sweet, if you think about it, to have a general election fight between Obama and Paul, if only because it would force Obama to continue fighting for his liberal base, a group of progressives that would finally have a candidate willing to roll back so many atrocious policies that Obama not only inherited, but continued, enshrined, and even expanded.

The comic is good, but the hover text is one of the most brilliant insights into the world of software engineering I've ever read.

Updated 2012 - Everything in the review below was true when I wrote it. However, not long after I wrote this, the complex was sold to Essex, and things changed drastically. The staff were all fired with no warning at all. Rates were raised on everyone. The new staff seemed to have no power to actually fix anything that was wrong, which quickly came to include the security gate and the pool. All the residents started leaving once their leases were up. The people still living there don't really have a community anymore. Most of the residents have only lived there a few months and a lot of the apartments are just sitting empty. We've still got a couple friends who will be there at least until the end of their own lease, and they just hate what's become of the place. Reading this old review really makes me sad. :( ----------- I love living here. I moved in around a year ago, and will be renewing my lease. I'll admit, I originally moved in planning to just park my family temporarily while we looked for a house. But the place was so nice, and my kids made so many friends, we decided we'd stay here a while longer. Anyway, rates are reasonable for the area, so the longer we stay, the more we're saving for our eventual down payment. Staff is super friendly, and the neighbors are a lot of fun (we actually know our neighbors!). Shopping is incredibly convenient - we can walk to everything from groceries to restaurants, our family dentist, pediatrician, auto insurer, a bowling alley, barber shop, the central library and city rec center, our church, parks, bike shop, post office, pet store, and a number of other places we don't even need, but are nice to know are there. And with buses and train stations so close, you can literally just live without a car if you want. I'd recommend it to anyone. It feels like I'm part of a real community here, and that's something I've never experienced before in an apartment complex (and I've lived in plenty). If life takes us away from here someday, I'm afraid nothing else is ever going to be quite as nice.

I spent 2 hours and $247 today for two new tires on my small car - a new personal record. But what really bugged me was when the service technician tried to convince me that I should get an alignment and a power steering flush that I clearly didn't need. I still would have added an extra star to my review if they'd had Wi-Fi available for customers, but they didn't.
