Great metaphor showing the risk tolerance of the team at Google X.  Congratulations to them all on the spectacular show yesterday.

So true - use Pixel Qi instead!
Mobile devices, while insanely portable and convenient, are not perfect. They can easily create about as many problems as they solve, thanks to their numerous limitations. Battery life doesn't always ...

I have been following this and similar technologies for years, and for me it is - "must have" for the next 1-2 years - for real mobile experience, but when I talk with people during meetings all over my country - even with IT people - they have no idea of existence of Pixel qi screens.

I am not sure If You are aware of "Cloudlet" project from Microsoft Research - but - in my opinion - in line with Windows 8 tablet /desktop OS - the PIxel qi screens may be a real break through solution for mobile -content rich - experience.

Mary Lou - I loved your vision and articulation when I first saw this last year. I recently wrote a response to Jason Calacanis' post about Google and used your name in vein. Fyi https://medium.com/i-m-h-o/c8aa5763e63f

Introduction
Mary Lou is currently "stealth at stealth".  Until early February 2015, Mary Lou was the head of the Display Division at Google [x] and ran two "moonshot" programs there reporting to Google co-founder Sergey Brin.  She is best known as a driving force in moving the price of laptops from $1000-$2000 to $100.  In 2005, with Nicholas Negroponte, she co-founded One Laptop per Child (OLPC) to build affordable computers for the world’s poorest children. Dr. Jepsen then founded Pixel Qi Corp. in 2008 in an attempt to transform a broken display component industry. In the past she has been a professor at MIT, the co-founder at CTO of MicroDisplay Corp, the CTO of Intel's Display Division and a successful globe-trotting high-tech media artist. She has been ranked in the top 50 female computer scientists of all time, and Time Magazine inducted her into its "Time 100" as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
