He was bullied for his faith in high school. And then this happened...
http://traffic.libsyn.com/restory/rsp002.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadSubscribe: iTunes | Android | RSSI’m grateful to have my friend David Pothier (pronounced “pwaah-tee-ay”) with us on today’s Restory Show. How Our Stories Intersected I first met David a few years ago when I was tasked with writing stories of church planters that our church had relationships with. …

I wrote this for those who feel ugly, who tell themselves they'll never amount to anything, to those who struggle with worth. I pray it helps. (BTW, I am in this boat with you.)
They sat across from me at lunch, two dear friends. And one said something like, “I don’t know anyone else who is harder on herself than you are.” She shook her head, and my other friend nodded. I could see they hurt for me, that it hurt them that I hurt myself with internal shaming …

This is a cool story, one I didn't expect.
This year my word is a bit sad and morose: subtraction. And to be honest, I prepared myself for a year of taking away, and that did not sound like roses and ponies and rainbows. Thankfully, I continue to learn that God is a surprising God who doesn’t act in ways we expect Him to. …

Here's how to get Not Marked for 4.97 (yes, a paperback!). I want to make it affordable and convenient for you to be able to send one to a sexual abuse victim who continues to struggle with the aftermath of abuse.
I woke up this morning burdened for those carrying around the mark (and pain and heartache and lingering shame) of past sexual abuse. Then I checked my warehouse numbers. I still have a bunch of these books just sitting there, not helping anyone. So I figured, let’s move these books out into the world. Let’s …

I believe it's a big accomplishment to stay married! 25 years of amazingness!
So Patrick and I have been married 25 years as of this moment. Wow. What an amazing adventure we’ve been on! I thought I’d celebrate by taking you through our marriage and family year by year. Year One: We lived in a tiny apartment in Federal Way, Washington. He worked as a vascular technologist, and …

Well, we all struggle, right? I'm in the midst of my own earthquake.
It’s been one of the most challenging, unsettling weeks of my life, the kind where you feel everything’s been thrown heavenward, then spilled onto the ground in strange, confusing heaps. Shock is still circling around my brain, and I have a hard time thinking. I wish I could be more forthcoming, but I have a …

Should be up in February!
I’m really excited about launching a brand new podcast. While my last podcast, Live Uncaged, was a delight to produce, re-story makes me nearly (!) jump up and down with joy. Why? Because I have the privilege of sharing OPS (Other People’s Stories). In my travels and experiences as a writer and speaker, I’ve run …

Kind of a strange word for the year, so here's my explanation.
I’ve hesitated sharing this publicly, but you know me: Mrs. Disclosure. I figured it would leak out anyway. And to be honest, at first I didn’t like this word that kept worming its way into my life and heart last fall. Subtraction? Who wants subtraction? Addition, yes. Multiplication, yes. But subtraction? The more I considered …

Your math is correct and points us to what is needful; our relationship and walk with Christ in obedience to His daily plan for each of our lives. Thank you for serving the King of Kings and helping others focus on the minimum  so that the maximum of His Presence can be the remainder.

For those who mourn...
In the dream: stress. It was the kind of dream that kept going on and on and on, and the stress level mounted with each minute. I was younger, in college, and I had finished my coursework. I remember being very tired, having completed all the tests, papers, and assignments sent my way. And oh …

She's 23 and she's wonderful.
So today, twenty-three years ago, I was in labor. Yep, Mary in labor on Christmas Eve. And, no, we didn’t call Sophie Noel or Jesus. Sophia Michelle DeMuth is now 23 years old, and a gem of a girl who audaciously loves Jesus and deeply cares for people. That’s what Jesus said to us, to …

Here's a prayer you can pray about the most important things.
“Do not neglect the more important things.” Matthew 23:23 As we bring 2015 to a close, I thought I’d share a prayer you can pray as you prepare your heart for 2016. Jesus reminds us in this simple sentence that there are unimportant things that can be shiny and take away our attention, and there …
