I have attended many conferences, and I have always found that preparation is key - identifying what you would like to get out of the conference, and then strategically going about building a plan to accomplish it. But increasingly with mobile devices at hand, we are all too eager to text, tweet, like, share, or be caught up in social media, when we should be connecting with others who chose to attend in person, in a more meaningful way. Content taken in is key of course, but nothing beats personal connections. Read about my 5 tips for "being present" at conferences in this weeks blog post. #SMMW17 can't wait!

My latest blog post looks at values-based marketing, and why it will be on the rise in 2017 with increasingly divisive politics a global reality. Values-based marketing is all about having shared stories, which are formulated around common interests and beliefs. It appeals to a customer's values and ethics and shifts marketing from a product-centric approach to a customer-centric one where promotions to customers express values as part of the core brand message.http://fiveminutemarketing.com/2017/01/values-based-marketing-a-2017-trend-to-watch/
