Time for a nice lazy Sunday brewday... as we are finally getting Spring here in Cleveland, it should be a good time to start a raspberry wheat beer.

Yahoo Screen, you suck.  Stop jumping back to the first new episode of Community after three or four commercial breaks.

Initial results are coming in from the latest homebrewing competition... looks like I just scored a single medal.  A gold in the sour category, with a framboise that I'm happy with.  I'm curious to read the scoresheets later, especially since my American Stout pulled in just a 28.

+Marty Fischlin I know the feeling. I once competed in the San Diego fair, and some of the specifics of that competition are odd. Long story short, I went through hell to get my scoresheets, was really interested in feedback on a Belgian IPA (16E), and the [single] scoresheet I got back was no help.

The judge honestly accused me of hot-side aeration, something which [if it's even real] only really affects long-term storage, and the beer was young. It seemed to me to be the sort of thing where the judge had just learned about HSA, and wanted to impress some dumb homebrewer by pulling it out of his arse.

Moron.

Just in case you've forgotten... this Saturday is Free Comic Book Day.  I'll be taking my nephew for his second year of free comics.
Here's all the information on this year's 14th annual Free Comic Book Day. Take a deep breath and here we go! Free Comic Book Day is the first Saturday in May. We break the event day up into two separate yet equally thrilling events. Because we are allowed to give the books away starting at ...

After not getting a chance to play Diplomacy in over a decade, I'm now up to 4 games running on webDiplomacy... Oh how I've missed this game.

For these games, I pulled:

Italy (sigh)
France
Turkey
Germany

I'm seeing that the level of discussion really takes a step up when you enter a game with a higher point bid.  Three of the games are 24 hour turns, and one is a 48 hour turn (with turns also triggering when all of the players flag themselves as ready).

My only complaint so far is that the build phase is the same length as the turn, and no way (that I've found so far) to get notifications through anything other then the website itself.
webDiplomacy is an online, multiplayer, turn-based strategy game that lets you play Diplomacy online.

Stupid lagers... fermenting so slowly.  On the bright side, I'm still on schedule to have an Imperial Pils on tap near the end of June, beginning of July.

I've realized something terrifying today... I don't have any brewdays scheduled for April yet.  I've got a saison and an Imperial pils fermenting now, and doing a gose on Sunday.  I'm thinking a basic cream ale next.

My first Best of Show win... I don't think me not being a member of the AHA is going to hurt me here.  I don't think a fruit lambic is going to be a brewery's first pick for the GABF Pro-Am.
Place, Brewer(s), Entry Name, Style, Club. 1st, Marty Fischlin, Framboise, 17F: Fruit Lambic. 2nd, Mathew Bender, Cheekie McGoo, 14B: American IPA, Society of Northeast Ohio Brewers (SNOB). 3rd, Paul Shick, Vienna Heights, 3A: Vienna Lager, Society of Northeast Ohio Brewers (SNOB) ...

The best burgers I've found in Cleveland, with a good beer selection. The fries are amazing as well. The one thing I grind lacking is a design your own burger option.

I finally made it here for Taco Tuesday, and I'm impressed. The beer selection is phenomenal, and the food has yet to disappoint. The taco of the day was a bacon cheeseburger taco, with pork belly and aged beef.

Nice beer selection, and an amazing BLT. Price per person includes one dessert, and two beers.
