And due to torrential downpours, we're calling the ride at 45.9 miles.

I'd already paid my money, and wanted to get an actual organized and supported ride in. We started early enough that the heat didn't really hit until the first half hour before the thunderstorms.

Working my way through BoJack Horseman, and I think the fourth episode is an amazingly entertaining genre change.

This is looking good... I'm sure it won't hold true to the book in plot, but if it stays true to the tone and general story, it could be epic.

The one downside is that Bryan Fuller is in charge of it. That's usually a good sign the show will be awesome, and only last a season or two.

Here's my plan for Sunday. Doing the 50 mile ride, which shouldn't be an issue. It's going to be a bit strange for me to have support for a long ride, I'm used to going solo.

It's looking like there won't be rain, but the temperatures are supposed to get up to the 90's.

So the total beer haul I brought back from my Mini Takes the State Travels were:

12 pack of New Glarus Moon Man
12 pack of New Glarus Spotted Cow
4 pack of Furious (and damned Minnesota for not allowing Surly to sell beer to go)
4 pack of Stillmank Super Kind
4 pack of Badger Beer Green Chop
6 pack of Furthermore Knot Stock
6 pack of Furthermore Viking Afternoon
6 pack of Sand Creek English Style Bitter
3 Sand Creek Pomegranate Lemonade
3 Sand Creek Cranberry Lemonade
12 pack of 3 Floyds Hopped in Half
4 pack of Sun King Sunshine
4 pack of SJMB Hesperidium

All of that, and room for luggage as well. I call that successful.

At the second water stop. Stopped to help a solo straggler not quit. Showed me down a bit, but I did a good deed.

Already looking at planning my next long ride. At the present, I'm leaning towards the 64 mile one, and I may have convinced the girlfriend to try the 25 or 39 mile one.

I'm still aiming on hitting my century ride by the end of the riding season.
Join hundreds of other cyclists on flat to rolling country roads as you ride past picturesque vineyards and over historic covered bridges. After your ride, eat, relax and take in the great views at a terrific winery. There are rides for every level of cyclist. Price includes well marked routes, maps, water & snack stops, support vehicles and lunch.

So, the route has been published for the 50 mile ride. Looking like I've got some hills in my future.
49.7 mi, +2270 ft. Starts in Richfield, OH

Got in a quick little ride this morning (10.6 mi), and it's looking good. Vacation did not destroy my riding ability, and I'm still feeling good about my half century this Sunday.

When traveling through the states by car, you learn some things. Having driven from Ohio, through Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Indiana I learned some things about these states.

1) Every state in the midwest uses the two seasons joke.
2) Wisconsin has no idea what barbecue is. What they call barbecue is known in most other areas as sloppy joe's.
3) Wisconsin does provide some of the most unhealthy and delicious food. I have never before seen (and doubt I will see again) a full catering tray full of melted butter.
4) Whichever place in Minnesota invented the Jucy Lucy, they're quite good (if you manage to avoid burning your mouth)
5) Illinois traffic and drivers are still terrible.
6) Michigan is a state of dichotomy. The cities are terrible and run down, while the back roads are beautiful and reasonably maintained.
7) Always try the local specialties.
8) If you see a random brewery advertised on the freeway and you have time. Stop in.
