It’s tough to be a neo-Ottoman these days. Every few weeks, there’s the centennial of an Ottoman defeat in battle. On top of that, the prime ministers of Israel and India, Bibi and Modi, have just been to Haifa, to commemorate a cavalry charge by Indian lancers (only spears and swords!) that routed Ottoman troops armed with machine guns and artillery. The date was September 23, 1918, which the Indian Army marks annually as “Haifa Day.” Watch the Indian media take pride in crushing those Turks:
