Upside Down Home (El Hogar Al Revés) is a Documentary that exposes the lives of teenagers living in low-income neighborhoods in Tijuana, Mexico, aspiring other choices in life that seem to be out of reach for most. This shouldn’t continue to be their reality.

If you believe that the current state of affairs in politics and economics doesn’t affect the kind of entertainment and media that we consume, think again: how great educational tools as documentaries and films are shelved when corporate and governmental interests are threatened with its content. Time to discuss and get to solutions.

“Gaza is often described as 'the world's largest open air prison' because no one is allowed to enter or leave. But that seems a bit unfair to prisons – they don’t have their electricity and drinking water cut off randomly almost everyday,” Banksy
The English graffiti artist has taken his politically charged message to the bombed-out neighborhoods of Gaza, where a series of murals amid a backdrop of devastation attempts to give voice to the desperation felt by Palestinians.

Why do people with great ideas and intent to develop themselves to become a better individual at the service of their community usually see their plans maimed by the lack of money they have, whereas the opposite often happens with people with sufficient resources? How can we equalize the playing field for all individuals to have a real ability to choose the life that they want for themselves?

Discussing the Documentary “De tres... uno” (Of three… one)
Director: Eloi Antonio Chávez Carreño (México, 2012)
Sinopsis: “Evelia works in a stationary business to make enough money for her family. Andres saw himself obligated to abandon his studies in order to work; Tony struggles to keep studying and achieve his dreams. They have two things in common: their parents are peasants and part of their lives meets at the CECYT, a high school of which its technical careers do not correspond to the rural reality of the community. These young men and women had no other option but to choose this education, so frustrations around their rural reality emerge as they realize that life is not providing the necessary opportunities to grow as an individual”

Zapatismo has achieved radical transformation through a practice of resistance and not revolution. Today we will be discussing the differences between revolution and resistance within the context of the Zapatismo, and how this practice of resistance has transformed the base communities and how this can function as a metamodel for global political change. Join our discussion with Anthony Faramelli. You are welcome to post questions and comments for him throughout our live transmission.

Anthony Faramelli lectures in media and culture studies and sociology at Kingston University. He completed his PhD in the critical humanities at Kingston University’s The London Graduate School, and he is undergoing training in group analysis at the Institute of Group Analysis. His writing focuses on the intersections of psychosocial theory and politics.

How can we give the next step beyond avenging the crimes on the past and redeem ourselves to create a new starting point for humanity?  Discussing the Documentary Concerning Violence

“Concerning Violence is a documentary covering the most daring moments in the struggle for liberation in the Third World, as well as an exploration into the mechanisms of decolonization through text from Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched of the Earth. Fanon’s landmark book, written over 50 years ago, is still a major tool for understanding the neocolonialism happening today, as well as the violence and reactions against it.”
