Hi, and welcome to my G+ stream.

This is a lot of opinion, trollism and know-it-all #toldyouso. Yes, I do. It's about [enterprise] linux, open-source (I'm there since 1994, yes), global warming, global change (see my prophecy from 2008 below), science and politics, photography. And more.

I created some hashtags (strange things as they are), like #flgw, #blameware and more. It's been a long way since the early 90ies, but it's fun and has always been. Books, articles, presentations, interviews, keynotes and more - just tell me if I can help you.

I'll keep this g+ stream up as long as it's working, you can reach me as mfeilner almost everywhere in the opensource web plus skype and twitter. :-) Oh, and thanks for the 5.000.000 clicks and reads. That's awesome. Merci, Gracias, Grazie, Thanks.

Bye bye descent os!
It's time to say good-bye to an old friend. The project that kick-started my career and passion in Linux. The project that has stayed with me throughout the entirety of my career. The single biggest reason I am in the position I'm in today. The time I spent on Descent OS has had a profound impact on my life, and it still does. However, things change. Missions change, and the medium changes. My passion has changed from being a technical passion to something completely different as a writer and comic-maker. All of this, along with long work hours had forced me to put this in the back seat, allowing Descent OS to make a few death gasps with no real follow-through much to my chagrin.

It pains me to say that as of now, I am ceasing development of Descent OS. This is a bit of an expected move, as it has suffered from a lack of a consistent direction since the 3.0 release. With the passing of Descent OS, however, I have regained my direction and passion for creating a good distribution, using my prior experience and new passion for writing and creating as my direction for the future. What you see below is my new project, born out of the ashes of Descent OS. This is an early build of my new Linux distribution: Arkas OS.

Arkas OS sets out to allow comic makers, writers, and artists to make their content on an easy-to-use and stable desktop. I am currently adding features as we speak, but several artists' applications are included by default, such as Krita and Scribus. Arkas OS uses the KDE 5 desktop with an Ubuntu 16.04 base. Descent OS lives on in the interface, as is apparent in this screenshot. I am currently working on setting up everything for the new website and community. Please stay tuned for future developments.

#regensburg. The beer experts. And bottling, of course
