Part 8

On the morning of our return day, the rain was pouring down (no photos of that). We quickly decided to try to make it to the upper boat landing and take the shortcut back. It was still a 10 km hike and we had to hurry, but we made it just in time.

In the end, the weather was not on our side. After three long days of hiking we were all soar and tired but happy with what we had achieved. It was an awesome adventure that we will remember for a long time.

Part 6

Since the summit was not going to happen for me, I took my camera and just went for a long walk instead. We followed the trail to the summit to about 1000 m from where the clouds started. After having some delicious chicken and rice in the form of an energy bar, I turned back down while my friends chose to keep going up into the clouds.

Part 3

There was an option to take a 6 km shortcut by boat. This was still early on on the hike and we felt strong. After a short break and final adjustments of our gear we continued by foot.

Part 1

Last summer we ventured to the Scandinavian Mountain Range, which is home to the highest mountain in Sweden. At 2097,5 m and about 150 km north of the Polar circle #Kebnekaise  can be subject to some rough weather even during the summer months.

Our journey begun from Oulu, which is about an 8 hour drive from Nikkaluokta mountain lodge. We chose to start our hike to the Kebnekaise Fjällstation right away.

I like the feel of the video, especially the beginning. If anything, maybe it could have been a bit shorter. I felt it kind of lost focus on the subject in the midsection. But all in all, really great work. I hope you do well in the contest.

Part 7

The high mountains and the cloudy sky made for some nice photography through out the day.

The day went by fast and the Fjällstation was a nice place to meet other people and have few cold beers in the evening. The services were outstanding, even though it is a really remote location.

My friends returned from their trek a bit after midnight. They were dead tired and had made it all the way to the snow line, which lays just short of the summit. Got to give them credit for that.

Part 5

During the night, the weather had changed for the worst. It was raining and the mountains were somewhere deep within the clouds. It didn't look good.

During breakfast the sky started to clear up and by noon the rain had stopped. However, the weather forecast still gave a good chance of snow at the summit. Since I was traveling a bit light (with emphasis on camera gear) and wasn't equipped for snow, I decided not to go for the summit after all.

Part 4

Our hike to #Kebnekaise  Fjällstation took us a bit longer than we had anticipated. We arrived just before midnight. After a late night dinner we set up our tents for the night. The weather seemed perfect for our attempt to the summit the next day.

Part 2

The trail from #Nikkaluokta  to the #Kebnekaise  Fjälästation is fairly easy. However, the scorching sun and +27,5°C heat made the 19 km hike seem a bit long.

Excellent food and a friendly environment. The spicy options are actually spicy, as they should be.
