Jälkikasvu näppäili Hama-helmien kanssa maanantai-iltana ja innostuin testaamaan, saisiko meikäläisen kelvottomilla kädentaidoilla jotain aikaankin. Tuloksena Pyhama eli Python-logo hama-helmistä. Itse ainakin huvituin.

My firstborn was playing with Hama beads on Monday evening and I somehow got carried away checking if I could get something done myself, with my apparent lack of manual skills and whatnot. The result was Pyhama - the Python logo made out of aforementioned Hama beads. At least I was amused.

The Grad is finished. I had lots of fun working on it and the backstory (in short: it's invading Ukraine) I came up with amused me. As always there were things I could've done but didn't have the bits for, like the Vodka-drinking crew. Maybe some other day.

Feedback, comments and the tomatoes are most welcome as always!

P.S.
Life events are happening so in case someone's interested, my hobby time (and therefore posting intensity or at least the reported progress) will be severely limited for a good while pretty soon. But that's life! :D

This time there was much more to tell. I glued on the final subassemblies, worked the last paintable details on the already built bits, and I did the transparent pieces. Then I applied the door decals to help me tell the story, applied the overall dirt layer over the vehicle and used some pigments. Oh, and I put the rubber tyres on, too, which improved the overall look quite a bit.

That was lots of fun and I enjoyed all this. The blog post itself is obviously more detailed than this silly summary, in case someone wants to read and see.

The insanity was palpable. I had really thought of doing a traditional Soviet-style desert camo (Afghanistan, I thought) for the simplicity. But as I was talking about that idea at the office, my coworker suggested doing a digicamo.

It sounded like a silly idea but at the same time it sounded surprisingly good. My method for the digital camouflage was just as simple as it could be: I cut out pixels of varying size out of masking tape and set up a pattern. Of course the real patterns have some more sense and science behind them but for me this was just fine.

As usual: comments and hopefully not too rotten tomatoes are most welcome!

Nothing too fancy this time, either. Just painting the monster green all around. Mostly this just took long because of my chosen careful approach.

Well, I did paint the cabin interior as well. I'm actually a bit proud of how that dashboard ended up! As usual, I refused to use any decals on the dash, painted looks (and much more importantly, feels) better to me.

This week's subject: priming the different bits. It took a couple of session each, as I always had to leave some surfaces clear to avoid leaving fingerprints and making an awful mess. So: the usual. Or maybe I'm the only one who does priming this weirdly?
