As we have now all said goodbye to 2014, many of us are now well into making plans and carrying out our marketing activities for 2015 – Building our brand awareness and... ...

How successful was Social Media for you in 2014? And what have you planned for 2015?

We can all safely say that social media has played a big part in marketing during 2014 and this has really gone from strength to strength as the year has progressed. We can not now go a day without seeing social media in something we are engaged with (unless of course you are lucky enough to be deep sea diving in Barbados on holiday).

For some businesses, they have really managed to improve their brand awareness via social media and others lay claim that their sales have increased thanks to adopting social media marketing within their business plans. In 2015, the major social media platforms will make things easier for businesses to sell their products and services where we’ll be in a new trend where, just like we can easily purchase from Ebay, we can read a Tweet or view a Pin on Pinterest and spontaneously make a direct purchase. So, if social media is moving on towards becoming a sales channel too – Can you really afford to not get involved in 2015?

I did quite a lot of networking last week…… unusual for me, but, like buses, several interesting events came along together so off I trundled.
Generally, they were good – lots of new people to talk to and although I didn’t meet anyone I was interested in for my own business, there were a couple of lovely people there who might well turn out to be useful contacts for my clients.

Working in the industry teaches you a lot. You learn the fundamentals of social media, how to execute plans, and how to choose which platform is best.

Now, the thing there is no shortage of, is talk of the growth in social. It’s been the “year of social media” for the past few years.  Websites such as Market Me have been leading the way in the latest social media news and insights. We know Pinterest users are mainly women. We witnessed the rise of Instagram. We saw Snapchat introduce its ad formats.

In short, we know a lot about social media.

Just some random thoughts and predictions for social media in 2015 and what we may just happen…
It is without question that we expect social media to play an important role within marketing for business in 2015 and an increased spend by many companies looking to build their audiences and brand awareness.
Despite varied reports showing that some social networking platforms are in decline in members and usage, generally the only way all figures are going is up. We can expect increased usage on social media for businesses sponsoring to promote their products and services, easier solutions for businesses to directly sell (Twitter will enable direct purchasing from tweets in 2015) and platforms working hard to clear their numbers of spam accounts.

What on earth can I blog about?
I had an interesting conversation about blogging on Twitter this morning………
By now, everyone reading this should understand the potential power of a blog; how it can inform, assist, raise questions and challenge opinions. I have certainly got a deeper appreciation of it since I started creating content for clients and writing guest blogs for other people’s websites.

Telephone answering is a key part to any business, I mean, where would you be without a telephone, or more importantly, how would you have personal conversations with clients or customers? Many people choose the telephone as the first port of call when trying to contact a business because it warrants an immediate and personal response. As a result, knowing how to deal with business enquiries is incredibly important.

alldayPA have put together a telephone answering service guide, allowing your business to accommodate customer needs effectively and efficiently:

So a couple of weeks ago I got to join ‘Ello’ the new Social Media Network that promises to never sell your data or to place advertising onto its pages. A clever strategy in a world that is becoming increasingly wary of how our personal data is being used and abused by marketing devils.

Ello is the latest in a string of attempts to take on the monolith that is Facebook. We have seen many come, and we have seen them all, one by one, either topple or simply be absorbed by the Zuckerberg behemoth; MySpace, Instagram, Google+.

It prompts the thought, what is it about Facebook that has made it such a success? And what is going to be next?
