I think this is Facebook's typical strategy: neutralize all strong points of G+ by copying them in FB. That way G+ will not get an edge and FB's gigantic user base will win the batlle.
That is, if you think G+ is just a social network.
Adding services other Social Media Sites have had before Facebook implemented them, is just another way for Facebook to stay relevant and on top.
I think both companies strategy is to copy what works best on each platform
I hope Facebook creates its own mobile os or partners with Mozilla on theirs
