This looks interesting. What a turn a few years can make on a thing.

Wow. This is actually a rather nifty infographic and a neat use of Flash.

Ohhhhh... That'd be nifty. R in Python is kind of a pain.

I hadn't thought about this topic that way at all.

"The commercial potential of combining open government data with other data sets is an irresistible temptation for the open data goppelganger, regardless of the privacy consequences."

Very interesting: "A range of institutions have been overthrown (with much rhetoric about the stifling effect of 'gatekeepers' and the democratizing nature of the Internet), only to be replaced by fewer, bigger institutions."
Yes, as through this world I've wandered I've seen many men, I guess; Some will rob you with a six gun, And some with a GIS. In the state of Tamil Nadu, near the town of Marakkanam, right next to a reserved forest, lies a contested plot of land. Records say these three acres belong to a member of the Mudaliar caste, but lower-caste Dalits living nearby claim the plot should be part of the reserved forest, which is not privately owned. The Dalits ...

Becoming minorly obsessed with this band. The dark dream pop thing is kind of captivating and the costumes are just creepy.

The day after Thanksgiving there is a celebration we have called "A Very Macy Christmas". I tend to go kind of overboard and create a many course meal of various bits. This year it was an Asian theme, I've been having a thing for tonkotsu ramen lately.

I'm spending the afternoon engaged in a bit of light reading. Namely the California Retail Food Code, where I find:

"113747.1. "Cold Water" means potable water that is not heated by an auxiliary method or source."

I begin to think that documents like this would be way more interesting if the case law that led to whatever bizarre and seemingly pointless additions to the wording of our laws. I mean, what sort of case was brought against the Retail Food Code that led to the necessity of defining "Cold water"?

Oh yeah. I totally didn't mean that it would effect in any way litigation that was currently going on when these amendments to the code were made, but what sort of litigation hinges on the definition of cold water?

This place is amazing. A vibrant, bustling space filled with people obviously having a good time that serves some pretty astonish food. The owner runs it like a boss.
