All Bamboo Floors
MATERIALS: A HEALTHY HOME

Materials were selected with a preference for being made in the USA and healthy for both the home’s inhabitants and the environment. Its’ foundation has 32 pilings; each 12” thick with poured concrete construction anchored to a coquina rock shelf 30’ underground and built to withstand 250 mph winds! Concrete block surrounds the entire home and was filled with concrete and Air Krete insulation for R36 value. All built under one hip roof makes for easy maintenance on the ocean!

All windows and sliding glass doors are double paned, low argon gas hurricane code impact glass with green turtle tint, requiring no shutters. Floors, except tile baths, are solid bamboo meeting air quality code for hospitals and schools as per California’s most strict department of environmental standards. All sixty stairs are bamboo. Six panel solid privacy doors, trim and finishes were all chosen to be formaldehyde free and no emissions of offgassing. All adhesives used in this home are zero VOC, as was all paint.

All plumbing fixtures are top of the line with all six toilets and two soaking tubs being the “Clean” American Standard brand. All faucets and shower heads are Moen or Delta top of the line styles. The home has a double the standard residential size water intake line for powerful water pressure, even on the 4th floor. The homes intake water line is the size sometimes used in commercial construction.

Exterior protection and materials on the ocean is of paramount importance, starting with a 5-V crimp kynar white protective painted metal roof to reflect light and insulate, this is the most powerful roofing for oceanfront homes. Roof is topped with lightning rods and whole house protection. Concrete block is filled with concrete and Air Krete and insulated with an energy efficient insulation/stucco/paint system known as Dryvit.

Lighting and electric in the home was designed with attention to inset or canned lighting in each room and additionally each space has one to three ceiling fans for light and air circulation. Even a ELECTRIC CAR PLUG. The home is wired for Cat 5 for the fastest internet and media connections.

Natural Gas gives the home efficiency and top quality performance for the hot water heater, stove/oven, two of the three dryers and the fireplace.

DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION
Walden Custom Homes, an experienced oceanfront and luxury custom homes specialist built the home in 12 months using the top subcontractors in each specialty. All permits from the city, county and state were pull and all inspections were passed. Walden Custom Homes also built the home at 795 Shell Street in the year 2014.
Glass Elevator
The home was designed by renowned Architect Allen Kiesel, who planned the home as a classic beach house influenced by a combination of Key West Style and Contemporary/Modern design. The home has an open, light, bright floor plan, with amazing panoramic views, creating a bright and cheerful environment.
