Spy Hook kicks off a new trilogy featuring MI6 man Bernard Samson. It is best read after the Game / Set / Match trilogy as so much of the plot depends on it.

Ryan Coetzee is, rather like his predecessor Richard Reeves, likely to go down in the history of the Liberal Democrats as a rather controversial figure.

Political strategists are the easiest targets in the world. You can blame them for any bad things, there's no way to prove they aren't responsible, somebody else will have taken the credit for any good things, and you don't have to talk nicely about them in public because we aren't asking anybody to vote for them.

The net effect is that people taking shots at them are telling you more about themselves than their target.

Judging by the spam text messages I've received from them, the management of the place isn't all it should be - and disappointing that even when I rang up to ask to be removed from their marketing database, the person I spoke to didn't seem to be that concerned about whether they were keeping to the law on SMS marketing or not (though he did promise to remove my number from their records).

One thing to watch out for that not many others have mentioned - it's pretty small inside and the seating is all very close together. Not somewhere for busy times or a discrete chat.
