Yes, I'm that MIRACLE LEGION front-man & the singer from POLARIS (the Adventures of Pete & Pete). I have now gone solo...
Introduction
Mark Mulcahy makes a long-awaited return to the UK from his home in Springfield, Massachusetts for a brief series of shows and in doing so takes a break from recording his new album - the first since 2005's In Pursuit Of Your Happiness. The former Miracle Legion (a band much-lauded by the likes of Thom Yorke and Michael Stipe) frontman's solo career began with Fathering - an album that received un
iversal praise (including Album Of The Month - Uncut / Album Of The Week - The
Guardian) and featured the track Hey Self Defeater, a song featured in Nick Hornby's 31 Songs. From there followed albums Smilesunset and In Pursuit Of Your Happiness, several tours of the UK and Europe, countless radio sessions and huge critical acclaim for both his songwriting prowess and his remarkable voice but in 2008 he put everything on hold to look after his children following the tragic death of his wife. To assist him through these troubled times many of his long-time fans in the music industry banded together to record an album of his songs and as a result 2009 saw the release of Ciao My Shining Star, featuring the likes of Stipe, Yorke, Josh Rouse, Mercury Rev, Dinosaur Jr and The National - who as curators of this year's All Tomorrow's Parties have recently invited Mark to perform there in December.
