Amazon Fire TV thoughts

As an engineer, I am a huge fan of the Fire TV. It's awesome to be able to use the same platform IDE to do both the Android app and Amazon Fire TV development. The Fire TV is a really powerful unit. I think on par with last year's HTC One.

Here's what I think needs to be change for it to really succeed. Basically, it needs to match or beat the Chromecast in the following areas:

The Android SDK is awesome, but there needs to be a first party way to do basic media control and second screen interaction. I ended up building my own in house for AllCast+FireTV. This can also be done by providing a seamless Chromecast type wrapper. Support Chromecast apps for developers that recompile with this wrapper/library thing. Though, I'm not a huge fan of Chromecast's HTML receiver architecture choice. I understand why it was made (porting web content yada yada), but I feel crippled using it.

It needs to have a USB powered option, so it has the ease of setup as Chromecast. No wires.

But, do not take away the ethernet jack. Trying to push 1080p+ higher content through wireless can be challenging in high saturated urban areas.

Can Amazon keep these specs, and lower the price to sub $50?

And just like every new platform... Chromecast included... adoption and apps. Microsoft has a unique approach to solving this with Xbox; they generally make third party apps, in house. They did this for Hulu and Netflix, from what I've heard. Or hell, pay popular apps to port their stuff. Amazon can certainly bank roll it. Or release Amazon produced content to Fire TV exclusively for some time period. Incentivize people.

Ugh, there are so many "tech" websites/blogs/news channels incorrectly advising people to immediately change all their passwords... :(

At least the article linked below gives the correct advice!

#heartbleedbug   #heartbleed
A lot of folks are going around at the moment telling the public to change all of their passwords in response to the serious Heartbleed internet security bug. But it's not necessarily the wisest advice.

For the love of technology!
Introduction
I've always had a passion for technology from a very early age. I felt like everything we used in our daily lives was created to fit a need, to help solve a simple problem faced at its time. It was at this moment I realized technology was about humanity.

Here we are today in the year 2013, everyone depends on technology in their daily lives to communicate, connect, and share. The problem is most people don't understand this very technology they use in their everyday lives. I feel like that's where I fit in, I've always fit in.

How can I help bridge this gap between the technology we've created to those who don't understand it? I help break down the problems faced and aid the approaches with technology. I see excitement in the opportunity to be creative with technology; I look forward to the new challenges.

I'm not usually a fan of dealerships as they are out to pad their pockets on trade-in values on cars and making mark-up on new and used cars they sell. AutoNation Nissan seems to step outside that common misconception of a dealership. From the beginning of talks about an interest I had in a used car they had on their lot I was given prompt, great, courteous service from the get go. Kenny was the one who I worked with that was top notch on looking out for me on my trade-in and working with me on getting my deal worked out on the car I was looking at. I'd also like to mention Steve Miller with internet sales was also great to work with very friendly and courteous as well. Thanks guys for the great service if you read this review!

Ken Whitehead is the owner and operator of Monster Paint Garage and easily one of the best auto people you could look for in Jackson and the surrounding areas. Ken takes no shortcuts when it comes to body work including fiberglass and sheet-metal damage/repair. His paint matching is always perfect on panels and partial panel repairs along with trim and small paint detailing. I've taken four cars to him for paint work so far and I'll never think twice of where to take my fifth car. I had him completely redo all the fiberglass on my 1975 stingray show corvette and not only did he do the fiberglass work and paint matching perfect (GM Red) but he also completely redid all the support and bracing structure under the nose from a older "rush job" repair at no extra cost.

I did wait about two months after opening to give this place a honest try and review to avoid early staff training, hiccups with any restaurant opening, etc. Service was fast and friendly, food was excellent lots of great fresh meats and vegetables. Cooking time was very quick even on a busy Saturday night for dinner. Portion size was honestly great in my opinion we got the small bowl size and after all the starch / egg / etc. you pick at the grill I had a very filling meal. We did have an appetizer put in that got lost in the orders but they took care of it for us and got it out quickly right as our food arrived which was an excellent turn around in my opinion. I would recommend this place for anyone that loves fresh stir-fry!
