After that update for the N6, I've see a 3 time increase in battery life. I could barely get through a day before and now I'm getting home with 60% battery left. I haven't made any changes except a reinstall of SU after the update. Wondering if anyone's experienced this too.

EDIT: Stupid autocomplete.

+Michael Myers Michael Myers In my mind it's not a hack since that option is built into Android. :D In this context the 0 means disabled (1 means enabled). Blank would be default (1 I believe) .

Question to the gurus here: In the last 4 or so CM milestones I've seen this odd screen flickering. I pretty sure that it's the software (screen is responsive, only happens when there are no animations, only on certain apps). The screen flashes black/white - like some sort of corruption. Rebooting (not a soft reboot) fixes the issue.

A friend said that there was a post (can't find it) that explained the issue as incompatibility with the Google services (Google did some emergency rollback or something). I was hoping the issue would be fixed in CM upstream.

Does anyone else have this issue or have a fix?

You could also backup your ROM and then see if it happens with other ROMs.

Does anyone know how to hide the "System Update" notification? I'm running CM so updating to 4.4.3 is useless right now. The notification appears to be sticky.

I just put my N5 back to full stock to get rid of the update icon... But it was so annoying that it was worth going back to stock. Lol

Question for the Linux experts here:

I was going to mount an image of Ubuntu so that I had access to sshd and provide a safe environment for hacking. But then I found that I already had ssh and many standard programs found on Ubuntu. Where are they from, are they include by default on Cyanogenmod now?

Anyone having issues with upgrading from M4 to M5? I installed and rebooted into recovery and the recovery believes that the internal storage in encrypted.  I rebooted and the process com.android.phone will not run.

While in Neumont University's alleyway. :P

I'm having an issue where widgets are freezing on AL3. They stop updating after a short while (still respond to some click events) - with the only fix being restarting AL3 (adding/deleting only refreshes them). Restarting is only a temporary fix, unfortunately - none of my other launchers are seeing this issue.

The menu button seems to turn black after coming from the settings pages. It only turns back to white after I restart AL3.

I was just about to post this. Same thing here. Any time I enter AL3 settings and then return to the homescreen the menu icon turns black. Only restarting AL3 brings it back to white.

+Cool Ethan Humans have a very low ability to create entropy. I believe we max out at 20 bits. And there is no evidence that humans have free will and based on determinism humans are just as predictable as machines and other animals.

So is it true, Ubuntu is favoring systemd over upstart? Why? Upstart is so simple to use, it seems like systemd is a downgrade in terms of functionality and reliability.

If they drop support for upstart entirely (doubtful) you can use centos 6 which uses upstart and will continue to be supported for many more years.
