I am looking to replace an old windows pc that is currently our family computer.   This computer will be shared by multiple children and used for general web viewing and school work.  Would you suggest an LG Chromebase or a Chromebox combined with a monitor, keyboard and mouse?   And why?

The Chromebox is easily to upgrade with memory and an SSD, also if you get the Asus I3 it comes with a keyboard and mouse (wireless).  The problem I see with all in ones, if one thing (example--monitor) has a problem, the entire unit is gone.  With the Chromebox you can easily change monitors, keyboards, mice, cameras, etc.

My interview with Rod Woodson on Donte Whitner and what the Browns should do on defense.
http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2014/05/hall_of_famer_rod_woodson_talk.html
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- One of the biggest off-season moves the Cleveland Browns made so far was the signing of local star Donte Whitner. The former Glenville star signed with the Browns on March 11 after playing the last three seasons...

Anyone have an example of deploying Chromebooks, or the new LG Chromebase in a public library environment?   Current set up is 6 older IMacs  The director would like to replace some of the Dell PC and then start a rotation where we would always have both PC and Apple computer for patron use.  At lease one board member is leaning toward staying with just Apple.  I would like to get a chrome machine in her hands to try,  The majority of task done on the computers are browsing the internet.  The google doc suite should provided all the publishing, document creation needs,

At this point, I would like to be able to secure a LG Chromebase for the director to use for a few weeks.   I think that it will give her the opportunity to meet the needs of customers in the library.

I know that the LG Chromebases are not out yet but am hoping that some can point me in the right direction to see if I can make this happen.

I can loan her my Series 3 Samsung Chromebook but wanted to a more recent model.
Thanks

First Helpout scheduled...and first no-show.   Not going to take it personally.  Things come up.   Have another scheduled for tomorrow!

My approach has been to schedule only 1-2 days ahead. If they want the Helpout (and they usually book) it doesn't go too far ahead of my schedule.

I am wanting to take a couple of data analysis courses on Coursera but only have a Chromebook.  I need windows, a mac or Linux.  Can someone tell me the easiest way to run Linux on my Samsung Chromebook?

Crouton my may or may not play nice with any program you install. It's a gamble.

Do you have any other computer at your disposal? Doesn't matter how old/shitty it is.
