A review of the #lot   #dreamliner  #787
After wondering if I’d make my flight in Chicago to Europe, I ended up arriving about an hour before my departure time for my 787 Dreamliner flight to Warsaw on LOT. The flight itself was underway a little late (about an hour), and with my tight connection in Warsaw (also an hour), I knew I’d be missing my connecting flight to Nice.  The gate agents seemed confident that I’d make it, but I knew better. Sitting down in the window seat, I couldn’t ...

Check out this post on how to get started using Points and Miles!
This site is designed to help those interested in traveling the world a little cheaper.  When I started on this hobby over five years ago, I remember that tightness in the chest about where to get started.  This article should help any rookies out there that want to begin this hobby, but don’t know where to start.  Without any further ado, let’s get going!   Part I:  AwardWallet.com There is a reason that we are starting with AwardWallet.com.  Th...

Some of you may know that I attend the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona.  If you haven’t heard of it, check it out!  It’s a great place. My second semester of grad school came to an end, and my mom came into town to send me off to Cannes!  What better way than to spend a few days at the Arizona Biltmore, a Waldorf-Astoria hotel? What’s Cool About the Biltmore? For one, the history.  Built in 1929 by one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s s...

I hate the word wanderlust:
With the influx of Thought Catalogue, BuzzFeed, and Instagram, this word has begun to permeate society: Wanderlust What do you think of when you read this word?  I think of several things, one of which being a sequel to the film ‘Stardust’ (which I’ll admit is pretty good).  But, loose word association brings to mind …

Most of my travels growing up involved the typical “safe” destinations: France, the Caribbean, Mexico (back then, at least).  These trips first exposed me to what the world has to offer, and that, there may be a different way of living, of governing, of existing, than the one I grew up with in Texas.   […]

Training Post #2:  Knowing about Airline Alliances and Partners!
In our first post in this series, we introduced you to AwardWallet, a mileage account storage web tool, and how to sign up for several  mileage and points programs.  Now, in our second training exercise, we’d like to introduce you to a major concept of booking awards with your favorite airlines: the partner.   Part I: What Is A Partner? We all have our favorite airline or hotel that we (hopefully) earn points and miles with.  And, you are always ...

I wrote a nice summary of the #United #MileagePlus changes:
The Miles, They Are a-Changin’ Last month, United unveiled the plan for its MileagePlus program in 2015.  And, they are not great.  Under the ‘old’ system, United flyers earned miles based on distance flown.  Under the new system, the distance flown doesn’t matter- it’s all based on money spent.  That means, no more ‘mistake fares’ for extra miles or ‘mileage runs’ to rack up miles and status quickly.  The only ones benefiting from this change ar...

Six weeks is an awful long time to be away from your bed. Granted, it’s my dorm bed, a extra long twin that I discovered had no clean sheets on it when I arrived home.  But, despite its positioning against a cold cement wall, it’s my bed for the next three months. Welcome Home Arrivals …
