A beautiful (and tiring) peek behind what it is like to be a photographer for National Geographic.

Inspiring and exciting all at once.

"sites will be ranked depending on how mobile friendly they are"
Google and pretty much every other web professional in the world has been putting out the same message for a good few years now – get your site mobile ready if you want to make it a winner. Now the search giant has gone one step further and announced a major algorithm update specifically

I got this lens after watching your unboxing and I agree re build quality etc. But after shooting video with it for a couple of weeks I returned it. I just found it too soft for video.

I got the RX10 which has the 24-200 constant 2.8 zoom instead. Yeah I'm packing my A7 and the RX10 for video shoots now, but I really like the glass on the RX10 plus the better codec.

I've been using the Chrome Pixel (2) for a few days now. Ok, it's an overpriced, over specced Chromebook. But...it's an absolute joy to use.

Battery life is amazing.

The screen is incredible and a joy to look at, not to mention highly responsive as a touchscreen.

And the keyboard is wonderful.

Why own a travel zoom camera?

I've got the Samsung Galaxy S6 phone and I love it's camera. But when travelling I think it's a good idea to bring a compact camera to take the best possible photos.

I picked up the Sony WX350. It has a lightweight aluminium body. It's ridiculously small, fitting into the pocket of my shorts or hoodie. And it has a 20x optical zoom.

That's the number one reason to own a travel zoom camera. Optical zoom.

This allows you to get shots that you'd never be able to with your phone, no matter how good the lens may be.

Is your site mobile friendly? Sort it out...

Don't get caught with your pants down!

Google will be using mobile-friendly as a ranking factor starting April 21st (http://bit.ly/MobileFriendlyAnnouncement). Basically, this means that all other factors being equal (as in your site needs to be ranking already), Google will be moving the mobile-friendly results to the top of the list.

What can I do? The solution is simple.

First, check your pages here http://bit.ly/MobileFriendlyTesting with Google's official tool. That tool is very comprehensive, and provides a ton of great resources for getting yourself up-to-speed and mobile-friendly.

Second if this looks too complex for you to deal with (and believe me you're not alone - more below †), contact me because I and my +GPlusGeek team, can get your site mobile-friendly without a complete re-design (we can do that too if you like!) at reasonable rates.

more here The site below is from a first page Google result for the term "website design and development services". For that term, on the first page of Google, there are several sites which aren't yet mobile friendly.

P.S. If your site isn't already ranking in Google search, and driving the kind of traffic you want, I recommend you contact the good people over at +Stone Temple Consulting

Introduction
Scottish podcaster, blogger, entrepreneur, content creator and strategist, photographer, father.

I once produced a podcast called the tartanpodcast, and lots of people like it.

Nowadays I talk about social media for a living, and lots of people seem to like that.

I have a love/hate relationship with social media and social networking, and I bring that honest attitude into my company's ethos.
Bragging rights
I was once written about in the New York Times. And the BBC ran a story on me on its technology website.

Prompt service, no time wasting, very reasonable hourly rate. We needed blinds fitted, Jason came out, cut the blinds to the proper size, fitted them in 4 rooms, filled in the bungled holes from my attempt to fit one of the blinds and only charged £30 for two hours work. Recommended and will use his services again.

By far the best yoga studio in Glasgow. Pol and Paula offer a range of class types for all levels of yoga practitioners. I've been attending for almost 2 years and my life, health and fitness have improved beyond measure. Highly recommended, but be sure to book in advance.

Delivery experience is a joke. You're told the window during which the delivery will take place. My delivery window came and went and I had to go to work. An hour AFTER the delivery window I got a call, which I had to send to voicemail, from the delivery driver asking me to call him back. But he called from a withheld number and didn't leave his in the voicemail. Now I'm in a TWENTY minute queue to the Glasgow store to arrange a re-delivery...
