If you track mobile vs desktop stats, what have you seen as a ratio.  Mine has long been 70/30 but I haven't had mobile friendly pages across the site.

I don't know how to track mobile vs desktop. And I've long wondered how to track rss (say, Feedly) but have no idea how to do that either.

+Google+  could you provide an "All Circles" button in addition to your "All".   The former should be what I want to see rather the latter being your filtered beliefs of what I might be interested in.

Unless you want to be Facebook.   Where I can only see what you choose for me.

I'm specifically here to see each and everything the people I chose, choose to post. I want everything they do or did.   I do not want it filtered.  I want them, crazy, awesome, amazing, or tired.   I chose them.

Screw algorithms.

Stop choosing for me.  It is annoying.

I'm rescinding my claim to 15,17.   I'm never going to keep up with developments given my life schedule.   Better to not hold what someone else can develop.    Awesome stuff, thus far.

I have my eye on 15,17.   Landlubbers need not apply.

AdSense for RPG Bloggers

First and foremost, to serve ads on a blog you need a lot of traffic.  You need at least 1000 unique views a day to earn more than pennies.  Why?   Click through rates on advertisements average between 1-2%. If you manage 1000 page views per day, at 1%, you end up with 10 clicks. For games, the click through rate is probably lower due the flood of web-based games and the niche market of table top role playing games. Chances are your click through rate is going to be far less than average.

Contextual vs. Interest

The rough breakdown for most ad engines is to split ads between what they believe is of interest and the context of the page.  AdSense doesn't have a "Table Top RPG" category.   It is part of the general hobby of games and as such is bundled with a whole lot of other stuff including the aforementioned CRPGS, MMO's and other stuff.

Since Google is in control of the split, that means you have ZERO control over the advertisements presented. Caveat--you can tailor what ads you want to show under the AdSense control panel. Doing so may likely deteriorate your click-through rate.

Gaming Cost Per Click

As I alluded to earlier, gaming related topics are flooded with advertisements. So many, they rarely if ever try to stand-out. I'm forbidden from stating what actual cost-per-click estimates are.   I can say that it'll take you a dozen or more clicks in the gaming world to buy something out of a vending machine.

I lost track of the bug list for this particular generator.  I recall there were a few different things I had not yet tracked down.   So I'll call it a beta.  It works for my purposes but if you find major defects, I'd appreciate you letting me know.

Roughly 3 years ago I launched Mithril and Mages with little direction.  Today, it has over 50,000 unique visitors per month.   The one thing I did that bridges across writers, game players, and curiosity seekers is the City Name Generator.

I suck at names so I made my life easy.  Now it has a life of its own.

Hex 15,17

I'm holding off on detailing the hex until others develop the lands  to the north and south.  Being a water hex, little will be above water.   I am envisioning a space corrupted by magic gone wrong, reefs, shoals, and long lost outposts for mages long dead.

Sea-faring folk will state the area is cursed and leads to death.   They will not be wrong.

I've got Hex 13.17 and am going to put a village of hermit crab folk in it.  They might have an adventure hook that'll send a party into your hex.

On the traffic front, here's mine even though I'm primarily doing random stuff rather than blogging these days.   Roughly, I'm generating 1600 odd unique page views per day with about 8X that in generator page views.   Due to my use of AJAX on the generators, I started pushing generator hits (result queries) to see which were used the most.

Lots of hiccups the last 30 days due to host transition from shared hosting to a VPS.

COVERT OPS  -

Is there any interest in having a NPC Generation system like I did for BBFRPG for Covert Ops?  My goal is to get that one and this one, if interest is sufficient, over to DwD rather than my site.

Finally finished my automated, over-sized, redneck cat feeder for the barn cats.  Little bit of welding, little wood work, and a token amount of programming and electronics was involved.

Whilst I'm now living in the southeast, the local redneck cats appreciate this. So, what I'd really like to know is this........ does it keep them from waking you at 4am to be fed? Just askin' is all. xox Stef
