One of the guardians stand watch over the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery.  Come rain, scorching heat, or snow they are there 24 hours a day honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you to all our veterans who have sacrificed for our country.

This was done for the photochallenge.org weekly challenge to take a macro photograph of something in the kitchen. It was done with a reverse-mounted 35mm f.18 Nikon lens on my D90.

Doing the assignment was a good experience for me.  I got some hands-on experience with doing macro photography, including framing something in a very small area with a very shallow depth of field and how to light the object.  It's not a photo that will hang in a gallery somewhere, but I am happy with it and, more importantly, I had fun doing it.

Not my typical travel portrait, but this ox had a very interesting face that I could not resist.  Taken with a #Sony #Alpha7 in the #seychelles .
It's not my normal portrait, but for some reason I really liked the face on this ox which pulls one of the ox carts on La Digue Island in The Seychelles. You can click here to see other photos from The Seychelles on my web site.

The new show is starting ONE WEEK from today, and you can pop over to the link above to find out more about it. Every week, we’ll have a Fresh Photography Competition, and we’ll get on about 5 Masters from The Arcanum to engage in this nonstop awesomeness. The show is gonna be a Complete Blast, and I’m so excited about it! I hope you join in and become a patron of the new show, which is called "The Creation Wars”.

How to Get Your Photo Critiqued: Just attach a photo to the comments to the All-Day-Critique-Partay post at http://goo.gl/T8mIGh

How it will Get Critiqued: People (including me, The Arcanum members, etc etc) will reply in-line and give you some feedback or critical input. Note that I didn’t tell people to be “extra nice” or anything, but you’ll get some frank feedback that we hope you take to heart. Our goal, of course, is to help you improve your photography and uncover more layers of your artist within.
