Sad commentary on the state of education. Great picture though! ;-)
Liz Morrish replies to a feminist colleague's letter of resignation.  I was very sorry to read your letter of resignation. I was, though, delighted that you decided to circulate it among colleagues...

Crimson flames tied through my ears
Rollin' high and mighty traps
Pounced with fire on flaming roads
Using ideas as my maps
"We'll meet on edges soon" said I
Proud 'neath heated brow
Ahh, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that, now

Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth
Ripped down all hate, I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull, I dreamed
Romantic facts of musketeers
Foundationed deep somehow
Ahh, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now

Girls' faces formed the forward path
From phony jealousy
To memorizing politics
Of ancient history
Flung down by corpse evangelists
Unthought of, though somehow
Ahh, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now

A self-ordained professor's tongue
Too serious to fool
Spouted out that liberty
Is just equality in school
Equality, I spoke the word
As if a wedding vow
Ahh, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now

In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand
At the mongrel dogs who teach
Fearing not that I'd become my enemy
In the instant that I preach
My existence led by confusion boats
Mutiny from stern to bow
Ahh, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now

Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt somehow
Ahh, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now

Has the Peralta Community College District Board of Trustees done their due diligence? The Solano Community College District won't have to respond to the accusations against Superintendent-President Jowel C. Laguerre until July 1, one week after he's been hired to be the new Chancellor of the PCCD.

Organic Inspired Art
Updated: The artist, Ellen, tagged this set with "organic art" but offered no further information. So after a couple of people asked, I thought I'd write to the artist to find out more about what these images portrayed, here is her interesting answer:

Well, believe it or not, these are 3D fractals. They are generated by a function that creates a fractal, with various transforms applied. A scientist recently asked me for some files to print for the window of their office since they looked a lot like bone structures and such. A lot of real organic shapes are molded by mathematical patterns of growth or pressure, so I guess that's why these look so real. I put some of my Mandelbulb 3d parameters and info on where to get the software here if you want to experiment: http://goo.gl/F9Qj1D

Story
Tagline
Traveling forward and backward at the same time can be confusing.
Introduction
Entering my fifth decade as an industrial glass blower, with no work in my field, I've had time to re-collect and reflect on my experiences. I've returned to college to learn what I need to start my own business. I intend to develop products that recreate early physics experiments using the skills I've honed in Silicon Valley. I've created a fictional character based on my family history to illustrate both my culture and my trade. I'm developing a business model that will engage clients in the narrative I embody, by making presentations as both a student of the Scottish Enlightenment and a 19th century scientific glassblower. I will market to both educators and the interested public. Using the internet, educational presentations, conferences and workshops, I intend to illuminate the ideas and discoveries that made today's world possible.
