An email came today that reminded me I had signed up for Google’s Local Guides. It said that the promised reward of 1T of storage would be reduced to 100G if the required tasks were not completed in two weeks. I checked the requirements and saw that the easiest way to fulfill them is to write reviews and post photos in Google Maps. To make a long story short, I edited and posted some of my pictures from my recent travels and unlocked my 1T of storage. That’s the first time I saw the disclaimer that the storage is only good for two years. Another bait and switch from Google. If I fill the storage, in two years Google will start charging me to not delete my data. That’s obscurantist and evil.

Story
Tagline
Traveling forward and backward at the same time can be confusing.
Introduction
Entering my fifth decade as an industrial glass blower, with no work available in my field, I've had time to re-collect and reflect on my experiences. I returned to college to learn what I need to start my own business. Finding Community Colleges virtually unchanged since the '70's, I've had to develop my own adult curriculum using a Learning Portfolio to support my studies. I intend to develop products that recreate early physics experiments using the skills I honed in Silicon Valley. I've created a fictional character based on my family history to illustrate both my culture and my trade. I'm developing a business model that will engage clients in the narrative I embody, by making presentations as both a student of the Scottish Enlightenment and a 19th century scientific glassblower. I will market to both educators and the interested public. Using the internet, educational presentations, conferences and workshops, I intend to illuminate the ideas and discoveries that made today's world possible.
