I'm building a slideshow for a school website, and it has to be zero maintenance after I hand over. I expected to be able to point the Slideshow Template at a Drive Folder, but it appears that: a) I have to use a spreadsheet and; b) I have to manually add into the spreadsheet the link to each photo on the web. Am I missing a simple trick here? This seems inordinately complex and I'm afraid will add too many steps for a time-poor teacher to use enjoyably.

"It's not like it's a Chromebook, you don't just power it on!"

I just got back from opening night of the IMAX version of the new movie, Geostorm. Exactly one hour in, Gerard Butler's character utters the above statement when trying to explain just how complex his weather machine is to power on and off. Not just any computer can power on and be ready to go in 7 seconds.

It looks as if the version of Calendar which shows up in New Sites is still the same embarrassing 1990s object, even on Google accounts which have the New Calendar view switched on. Or can someone else show me a way of getting a better-looking calendar object?

So annoying - there's a beautiful calendar view in this Chrome extension (built by Google), so why can't I get at least get at the code behind that for use in a Site? +Martin Hawksey - any ideas?

Like every other administrator of a European G Suite account, a message from Google dropped into my inbox yesterday: it's the new Data Processing Amendment, revised in the light of the fast-approaching GDPR.

For those of you that like reading legal documents, and those of you who have to, here it is: https://www.google.com/appserve/mkt/p/AEJcqXpebrn-qS4ZUfgNdWN6V3x8awTfEQRq0tEY9c_YNt3R8fcBQ-2QknkccdL8RyshO2YeWtBn97p_SgPm5QRtIw_g8YqywqzDkAB7Pgsd4Hs

Hopefully someone will produce a TL;DR version soon! It's important stuff, but I must admit my heart sinks at the prospect of having to discuss it with every school I've worked with...

Anybody spotted a change in their Android folder icons? Woke up this morning to find that mine had changed to show tiny icons inside a circle instead of featuring the first as a larger icon with the others kinda peeking out from behind. (See screen grab) I prefer the way it was - anybody know if I can revert or do I have to install a launcher?

Two interesting videos from Microsoft: the first shows that they are moving in the right direction, even if it does largely look and feel like a Google ad from five years ago: https://youtu.be/c7_3_MukBjQ

The second clip uses many of the same sequences again, but to me shows the problems they've got in transforming their current pricing model and the commercial culture which springs from that model. Even the presenter (Anthony Salcito, VP of Education at Microsoft), sounds like he's more at home talking about TCO and ROI than he is cloud pedagogy. https://youtu.be/gQcwtO3jgqQ

Hmmm... I appear to have broken the internet. Haven't seen this error message in my G Suite Admin Console before, and judging by the formatting and wording, I'm guessing that it is only allowed out once every twenty years or so...

I've been using the Photo Gallery in New Sites for a while and it's suddenly stopped displaying photos. It gets the count right, but displays no images. The Drive folder is shared 'Anyone with the link can view' and it's been working fine until a day or two ago. Thoughts?
