Beauty Does Not Lie In Perfection
It lies in the blemishes we carry, within the wrinkles we have earned through living a life, through the ability to be able to retain that twinkle within the eye.

As a photographer I look for beauty when I take landscape images but I look differently at people, I don't want the perfect clear skin and the dyed single toned hair, the manicured nails and plucked eyebrows, men that use moisturiser to hide themselves hold nothing for me.

Within the lines of our faces are the stories we have told, the grey flecks in our hair can reflect the light like no other colour. We are different, seldom following a fashion or a tend we fall out of the uniform of the younger generation and create our own.

I am drawn to those that wear themselves for all to see, it would be a much poorer world if we no longer had this library of humankind.

There is the only one person in the world who is going to see the same story behind the scene as I see. Feel grateful.

Vive la France
A new labour agreement in France means that employees must ignore their bosses' work emails once they are out of the office and relaxing at home – even on their smartphones

Going to try "Other"

PSA
I'm No Longer Female aka How To Make What's Hot More Interesting Sans Banal Platitudes

A few weeks ago, two posters highlighted a very bizarre finding on Google Plus. That your profile's gender specification (Male, Female, Other) influenced the content you saw in the former Explore and What's Hot tabs respectively.

Google's Chief Architect offered feedback that the  Explore tab was using an older, more gender sensitive algorithm, however the What's Hot tab had been modernised, with gender as a factor, but not a big one. If anyone wants to know, what you see in What's Hot is supposed to take into account "properties inherent to the post and the viewer, which includes profile information," he said. A subsequent update mentioned that the algorithm had since been updated and all should be well in Feministaland. I decided to test the update and this is what I found:

I changed my gender and clicking to the What's Hot tab, these were the top 5 posts for each option:

As Female:
1. Birthday month meaning: E.g. People born in January are bold & alert; February lucky and loyal gag etc.
2. Catpuccino (Image of a latte with 3D foam cat)
3. Tips for life: E.g. Dream more, complain less, listen more etc
4. Catpuccino latte.  Again. See #2
5. Beautiful art: A little girl painting flowers

As Male:
1. Xbox One Reveal 2013 Hilights
2. Superman: Man of Steel
3. Motorbike accident GIF
4. First F-35B Vertical Takeoff Test
5. Ingress related

As Other:
1. Xbox One Reveal 2013 Hilights
2. Science Casts: Bright Explosions on the Moon
3. NASA - Satellites See Storm System That Created Tornado
4. Superman: Man of Steel
5. Cosmos Returning to Television with Neil deGrasse Tyson

It's been updated? Are you sure? I understand that gender is a key demographic in the dataset of any business that offers targeted marketing as one of their product offerings, but as a User and the anonymized product, I feel my experience is adversely affected by these stone aged algorithms. I'm not a programmer, but surely there is a smarter way of harvesting gender sensitive data and an even smarter way of determining what's on the What's Hot list.

For one, I'd like to know what's hot and trending, but take me out of the equation. Show me the posts and topics which are actually receiving the most attention via comments, plusses and reshares, with no regard for whether I have a vagina or not.

Conclusion: What update? Trust me, even if I'd made this the top 10 posts, the results were similar. As a Female I couldn't handle the dry heaving any longer. Henceforth, my gender is Other.

As an aside, if you happen to love flowery posts and threats of dying in a fire if you don't reshare a post or a slew of positive affirmations to make your life suck less, then by all means, change your gender to Female.
