Montmartre Steps
Back in 2012 I spent a couple weeks in Paris and absolutely loved the city. To be honest, I enjoy experiencing cities much more than photographing them and spent a majority of my time wandering without my photo gear, enjoying museums and landmarks and cafes and even the subway, but I made sure to take my camera with me to a few special places, including the stairs in front of the Sacré-Cœur cathedral one lovely rainy afternoon...

http://wirtagraphy.blogspot.com/2015/02/name-that-photo-episode-1.html - I have sooo many photos that I've finished and never published over the years because the worst part after all the time and effort of creating a picture is trying to come up with something to call it. And I just don't see myself as an "Untitled 1", "Untitled 2", "Untitled 3" sorta gal.

Back in October, I took a two-week drive from Washington through Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and a final-day 15-hour drive from Lake Tahoe back to Seattle. It was so fun and absolutely gorgeous! For the last few years I've been rather captivated with Iceland, but I'll be honest, it's only because I hadn't seen enough of my own country yet to know better. I saw landscapes, geological formations, canyons, colors, and flora that I never expected could be so stunning. I hope to be sharing more photos of my trips this year as soon as I can figure out what to title them.

Help from Facebook friends will be requested... :)

This picture comes from a lovely little lakeside in Yosemite National Forest, California.

http://wirtagraphy.blogspot.com/2014/06/colorful-kirkjufellsfoss.html

I recently returned from my second trip to Iceland (if you haven't been there yet, you must go). The first was back in the fall of 2012 and the country was simply stunning; I was planning my return trip before the first was even over. This time around I decided I'd go in the springtime in order to see the baby sheep, get a more colorful landscape than the endless brown of fall, and take advantage of the never-totally-dark nights.

In late May, the sun sets around 11pm and rises again around 2 am. The soft light and gorgeous colors of sunset and sunrise seemingly go on for hours and absolutely make the landscape glow. It could not be more beautiful.

Colorful Kirkjufellsfoss
Out of sight to the right of this frame is a well-known little mountain called Kirkjufell. A very popular photo composition is a shot of this waterfall, Kirkjufellfoss, with the mini mountain in the background, and of course I got my version too and will share it one day. However, I really enjoy going to well-known locations and seeing if I can find a slightly different or lesser known view of my own, and this is what I came up with here. If this photo location doesn't look recognizable to you, then I am a happy artist.

http://wirtagraphy.blogspot.com/2014/06/iceland-sheep.html - After a year and a half I finally made it back to Iceland! I visited in fall of 2012 and fell in love with the landscape, animals, people, views, and solitude. I decided I needed one more trip back before I started focusing on all the other countries I want to visit, and a springtime trip sounded like a fun idea.

On my first visit, one of my favorite things about Iceland was the sheep - at that time of year they were decked out in their fluffy cold-weather coats and absolutely overrunning the island. This time around I got to see the babies!! One of the cutest things is how they all stay very close to their mamas, running around in tiny families and sleeping in little bundles together.

http://wirtagraphy.blogspot.com/2013/12/sparkle.html

I was having a conversation with someone recently who is very nice and polite about it, but doesn't really care for my style of photography; she's more into the 'realistic' style that's a little less colorful and soft, more along the lines of how things look to your eye. This of course, is a perfectly valid opinion; my taste happens to run the opposite. She did however, point out, that for her, my pictures just didn't look like 'photography'.

I thought about this for a while and I agree with her. The only reason I call the pictures I make "photography" is because that's the medium they are created in. They aren't digital art with pieces superimposed or hand-made additions or the like, they are just photos that were 'developed' in a digital darkroom instead of a film one. They just happen to be developed to my personal taste and style - colorful and often with just a bit of sparkle.

Whatever you call it - photography, art, blasphemy (haha) - thanks to all of you for all the kind words and comments of support over the last few years, it has really meant a lot to me. :)

Sparkle
This was another one of a series of photos I took at Nooksack Falls earlier this year. I always love winter, but looking back at my spring and summer photos is already starting to get me in the mood for spring wildflowers and baby animals. Overeager much?

Am I the only person who has absolutely never gotten a yellow bubble to shoot on this level? I think I've played it about 30 times now, and I've never once had a yellow bubble pop up, & I can't figure out how to beat it without at least one. Any ideas?

Illegally taking a handicapped spot is awful if you're actually in a busy lot where handicapped people may want to park, but as you noted, everything in sight is completely empty including the handicap spots right next to the ones this guy is parked in. God, every single one of your videos is just pissing and moaning and bitching like a three year old girl about everything that has no purpose. Bitching about your wife's shampoo, bitching about where people park, bitching about some purse thing she bought… I would question how she can handle being around you, but really I wonder how you can handle being in your own head, when all you seem to spend your time doing is looking for reasons to be angry and miserable and rant on social media to other people who are probably about the same. I would be effing exhausted if I were you.

http://wirtagraphy.blogspot.com/2014/06/the-water-runs-everywhere.html - I love water. One of my favorite things about Iceland is that there's plenty of it. Contrary to it's name, it's actually a rather temperate climate most of the time, but there are three large inland glaciers that have been sending water out towards the seas for as long as they've been there. Checking out the rivers, creeks, and waterfalls created all around the island was a fun highlight for me.

http://wirtagraphy.blogspot.com/2014/01/house-in-hillside.html

I went to Iceland for the first time in October of 2012. It was the most fantastic experience I could have ever imagined - the landscape is gorgeous, the light is lovely at all times of day, the animals are adorable, and the people are some of the nicest I've ever met. How could you ask for more on a vacation?

With that in mind, I was already planning my return trip before I was halfway through the first. And now, that next trip is finally getting close! I'm headed back in May of this year and have been getting excited going back through my photos, well-worn road map, and handwritten notes of all the places I didn't get to the first time. I absolutely cannot wait!

House in the Hillside
One of the random things I loved about Iceland was driving along long deserted roads with nothing in sight but grass and sheep, and then all of a sudden coming up on single buildings or dwellings just seemingly plopped down in the middle of nowhere. Like the side of a hill.

Daybreak on the Seattle Waterfront -
This was shot on a very coooooooooold winter morning recently. Temperature aside, winter mornings are ridiculously gorgeous in the Pacific Northwest. I love this season!

I've never had any desire to own an iPad (my iPhone is good enough), but I've finally decided to take the leap for hundreds of dollars ONLY for the SOE app. Seriously, SOE is the only reason at all that I'm buying one. I assume I'm crazy and a free Windows version will come out right after my return period ends, LOL.
Wow, what a place! It's been a long time since I've ever been so transfixed by a find. I'm gonna get this exact location into Stuck On Earth very soon, but it is in an unmarked place in the valley of fire. I spent ages looking for it. I'm currently on the road and will get all the info to you ...
