GO +Google - love love love the awesome Google Doodle for International Women's Day - March 8th, 2012.

Check out the IWD events happening around the globe:

And, according to this +Washington Post article linked below - Among the leaders scheduled to help observe the day are President Obama and U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Celebrities said to be participating in Women’s Day events include Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon, the Oscar- and Grammy-winning musician Annie Lennox and Kristin Davis (“Sex and the City”), who visited Washington on Wednesday on behalf of Oxfam America’s Sisters on the Planet Summit for women farmers.

Awesome. Let's celebrate... and empower more women (and men!) around the world!!

Kindred spirits and mega advocates for empowering women include +Archbishop Desmond Mpilo Tutu and the +Dalai Lama. At the 80th birthday party of Tutu - which was live streamed via a +Google+ Hangout On Air - when the interviewer asked him what could be a possible solution to the world's problems, Tutu laughed heartily and said, "Oh de answer iz verry eazy. Let vimmen [women] take over." (Lol, that's my attempt at Tutu's adorable accent!)

I'm all for empowering women, but I'm also for empowering men... and our collective masculine and feminine sides. No need to lean too far one way or the other... or ever diminish the other sex. It's all good. We're in this together. :)

Brilliant! In Hamilton nz we celebrated international women's day in the city centre. A fabulous turnup of speakers and performers! It was so much fun. I was involved in the organization. I must say I'm tired now at home bra off and enjoying music as the evening kicks in. Thinking of you all across the world as your 8th march kicks in. Xxx
