Wanna see inside the Dorothy Condominiums in Tacoma's Stadium District?
Do you love Historic brick buildings with hardwood floors, built-ins, and views of Tacoma’s historic Stadium District and Commencement Bay? Me too. Tacoma’s Dorothy Condominiums are just one of those classic historic buildings. Recently Pete Elswick, an awesome agent at Windermere in North Tacoma listed a condo at The Dorothy and he let me go in with my video guy Matt and do a video tour. Check it out! The Deets: The Dorothy Condominiums – Unit ...

Do you live in one of these Tacoma Neighborhoods? If so, I'd really appreciate it if you could take a sec and answer 4 questions for a project I'm working on!! <3

A Cliff Street Loft came on the market today for $119,900. It's a top floor studio (but it has a built in loft bed) with those BIG TALL CEILINGS with beams that all you kids like.
So, basically that blog post I wrote last week about Anne Jones’s awesome 2 bedroom 2 bath condo in St Helens BLEW UP on the interwebz and now I want to give you, my people, MORE delicious downtown condos to read about. More than 3,000 people have read that post! And my phone won’t stop ringing (but seriously, text me people!) with people wanting to find out how to buy a great condo downtown. So exciting. I love it when a place hits a nerve. Tha...

I really think this information will change my life.
A goofy article in the The Sydney Morning Herald reports that scratching the back of your leg might stall the urge to run to the bathroom. "If you scratch or rub the back of your calf for a few moment...

INTERVENTION!
Sellers of Tacoma, sit down. We’re all gathered here in love and support to talk to you about your little problem. It’s about the terrible pictures on your real estate listing. Sure, it’s a bit of a sellers market in Tacoma right now- especially North Tacoma. If you’re priced reasonably well your house will sell eventually in a market like this. But that’s not good enough for us. That said, if your house is messy, cluttered, dirty, and most impo...

In Downtown Tacoma we have lots of condos and a growing number of townhomes. Many people don't know the difference, much less which one they should buy! I'm breaking it down and explaining it so you can make a good choice for your downtown pad!
A couple years ago I made this video about the difference between a townhouse and a condo: The video lays out some of the biggest differences between condos and townhomes, which a lot of people (even real estate agents) don’t totally understand. The difference is HUGE when it comes to getting a loan, whether or not renting out your place down the road is an option, and how much your dues are. Since I have two friends selling their places downtow...

I've made no secret that Downtown Tacoma's St. Helen's Neighborhood is my absolute favorite. It's the beating heart of downtown, and this condo is smack in the middle. Walk to the movies, the bakery, bars, and coffee shops. Or just sit in that sunroom. ALL DARNED DAY.
Oh that Anne Jones. She’s been listing some seriously sexy condos in Downtown Tacoma this year. But truth be told, they’ve been a bit out of some of my people’s price ranges. I feel like every time I share one of these great condos you’re all like, “Yeah that’s awesome- got anything under 300k?” Well my friends, today is your lucky day! At $275,000 this is one of the most affordable places to live yo big city dreams I’ve seen in ages. 428 St Hel...

For whatever reason you find yourself in need of a bar on Christmas Eve or Christmas. I don't judge. I’m here to help. I’ve called around and gotten the 411 on which bars are open and when. THERE’S EVEN KARAOKE. So maybe you find yourself alone on Christmas Day and all you want is to go sing “Last Christmas” by Wham! while drowning your sorrows in a vodka tonic (because you’re already on your New Years Diet). That’s cool. Go do it. Tacoma is here for you.
I know, I know, I know. We should all be gathered round the hearth cuddled in the bosom of our families on Christmas Day. But let’s just say you only have plans with your family in the morning. Maybe you’re new to town and couldn’t go home for the holidays. WHATEVER the reason it is Christmas Eve or Christmas Day in Tacoma and you need a freaking beer. I’m here to help friends. I’m here to help. I’ve called around and gotten the 411 on which bar...

Introduction

I’m Marguerite.  I’m a 30 something Realtor from the Pacific Northwest who makes a living selling houses and helping fellow agents and real estate companies with their online and offline marketing.

I don’t wear red blazers or any other powersuits, I don’t drive a fancy car, and I’m not a zillionaire.  What I do have is a great family, awesome friends, cool clients, and an authentic happy life that I love.

I have a blog called Get Real Tacoma where I share my thoughts about my city and meet new clients.  I also create blogs for real estate companies, individual agents, and for businesses outside the real estate industry.  In addition to creating blogs, clients often ask me to stay on and write their monthly posts for them.  I want to be a writer someday, so this makes me blissfully happy.

So I've become a little obsessed with the Smoke & Cedar "breakfast Happy Hour". If you go before 8am it's 50% off and if you go before 9am it's 25% off. There aren't very many places in Tacoma doing breakfast 7 days a week, so I've become a little obsessed. I usually get the granola & yogurt, which sounds boring except they make their own salty delicious granola that I haven't been able to replicate at home and I just CRAVE it. Also, they have a wonderful signature dish of cornflakes encrusted french toast that I can't believe I like- but I REALLY LIKE. Of course they have all the classic breakfast stuff too if that's your jam. I love the build your own mimosa. Try it out. And if it's summer sit on the deck.

I have been leasing a space at Suite 133 for a year now and it's been an incredibly positive experience. In addition to a real cool, open, unique space- my "coworkers" are friendly and knowledgable about all kinds of areas of business. I have found that in addition to providing for my basic business needs like meeting rooms, an address downtown, and internet- Suite 133 has helped me to interact with downtown Tacoma professionals in all areas of business. This has helped me network and make more contacts downtown, as well as refer my clients to business people who I see on a daily business working hard and doing good work. Coworking is not for everyone, but I can't say enough about how great it's been for myself and my business.

There's variety, dozens of soups to choose from each day. I recommend the creamy Tomato Basil and the Autumn Sweet Potato. No matter what mood you're in, there's a soup for you. If you're a vegetarian or a vegan there are always at least 3 or 4 options. Nowadays they're stocking baguettes from Corina Bakery, which means for less than $6 you get a truely delicious, homemade, affordable lunch.

I was addicted to the Melting Pot Happy Hour (to the tune of 4 or 5 visits a week) back in 2004. While I am glad to have gotten past that phase (variety is healthy), I still enjoy the Melting Pot for one of the most unique and delicious happy hours in town. From 4:30-630pm and 9-11pm they offer half off all of the dessert fondues and cheese fondues. That's a great deal. Check it out.

I can't say enough about how much I love this bar. The owners are kind and engaging and hire great staff. I am not entirely sure if it's trickle down from the owners being so great and setting the tone or what, but when I go there people are kind and just down to have fun. There's always a good time to be had there on the weekends, with karaoke, drinks, and lots of friendly people. I love this bar. It's my favorite.

Fantastic Happy Hour. With one or two small exceptions the whole bar menu is half off. You get get a huge plate of delicious pasta for dinner for less than $7, or one of my favorites, the fancy grilled cheese and chips for like.... $6. Definatly a contender for the best happy hour in Tacoma.
