My annual high school reunion picnic. What a special way to celebrate the kids you grew up with every year. 7 year ago a few friends of mine and I said...let's find everyone we used to know and get them to visit the park where we used to play growing up. Each year, it grows and builds. We draw kids from high schools surrounding French Park. We draw kids from the 70s and 80s. It's amazing how much we all still love each other!!! It gets better every year!

People once woke up halfway through the night to think, write or make love. What have we lost by sleeping straight through?

If you're not careful, what you post on social media can come back to haunt you. It may even cost you the job you've worked so hard for! Great read by +Adrienne Erin

I have another Google+ Account "HRSocialStrategy".  I obsess about all things social media, so I soak it all up like a sponge, and squeeze out media goodness for my fans, followers, clients and friends.

Yeah, I have way too many blogs and Twitter accounts (but I use each of them for a very specific reason).  Why so many tumblr blogs? Easy: Yahoo just bought Tumblr, so I want to see it from many different perspectives.

Listen to my blogtalkradio show "Compassionate HR" :

I have another Google+ account listed under HRSocial Strategy.

Feel free to connect with me there as well.

I am a Social Media Strategist, Community Builder, Innovator, and Blogger.  My friends call me a "social media machine," and my colleagues refer to me as a "social networking engineer".  I'm not a technical engineer, rather I am an engineer of digital influence.  I am an online community engagement officer.   If you are looking for someone who can engage your social media community, drive traffic to where you want it to go, and make your social media community morph into a viral movement, then I'm your woman!

I'm an early adopter of social network technology, and have been watching digital trends since 1994 when the predecessors of today's social networks emerged.  Whether you call it new media, digital media, or social media--it's's community...It's instant, real-time, and it makes an impact.

My editorial blog about job search, careers, recruiting, and human resources can be found at

An avid blogtalkradio podcaster, I Host Compassionate HR on blogtalkradio.  I interview thought leaders in Social Media, Recruiting, and Human Resources who go above and beyond the call of duty to demonstrate corporate responsibility, service learning, and steward leadership.

I'm best known as the Founder of the world renown social media movement, HireFriday a community that originated in the US in 2010, and spread to 6 countries within the first year.  It continues to be a source of support (and boots on the ground help) to candidates everywhere.  Last year, my goal was to grow HireFriday to 1 million strong.  Not only did we achieve that goal, we exceeded it.  According to our analytics, our Twitter chat known as #HFChat is reached up to 6.8 million impressions.  Our annual metrics are even higher.  Should you be interested in sponsoring one of our chats, I will gladly supply you with a report.

HFChat was the second career chat on Twitter.  In fact, it was one of the first Twitter chats.  Shortly after, I started the #HFChat community, I quickly realized that our community would serve the masses, grow in numbers, and help humanity during one of the worst recessions in America's history.

We shifted the hash tag from #HireFriday to #HFChat to focus our efforts on the weekly chat, and help as many career candidates as possible.  We serve both active and passive candidates.  Our new website, launched officially in May, 2011.

Professionally, I am a power user of Radian6. It is my social media monitoring tool of choice.  I've worked with big brands in both B2B and B2C markets as a Social Media Community Manager, Moderator, and Strategist.

I have more than 10 years experience in corporate training, outplacement consultation, and leadership development, and in facilitating team building seminars.  I am a life-long learner.  I don't think anyone is a Google+ ninja, or expert.  The platform is too new.  I can say that I was one of the first HR/Social Media professionals on Google+, and I took to it like a duck to water.

I'm obsessed with digital interactive communities.  In fact, I'm proud to admit it.  This is not only where I work, it's where I hang out, and live.

I've been interviewed by The Washington Post, Reuters, and MSNBC about social media, and the economic employment outlook of 2011.  I continue to be a resource to the press.

I've developed corporate groups on LinkedIn, and pages on Facebook.  I'm a fierce mobile app fan, and snatch every new, cool mobile app that emerges.  Why?  It's my job.  It's my pleasure.  It's my hobby.  It's what I love to do most.

When hosting the career chat, people ask me, Margo, what job would you do absolutely free?  Well, I say...This is it.

Bad customer / patient service. Impatient, hostile staff. Mediocre non-responsive medical care. It is better than nothing, but not by much. The staff acts as if they are doing you a huge favor to take your insurance money, your time, and provide adequate care. They are under staffed, and it reflects poorly on the care they provide. When medical errors are made, fingers are pointed everywhere except where it belongs: back at them, the quality of their care, and the reason they are allegedly there:to save lives! Mercy Health System should step up to the plate, and make are there is an adequate patient to staff ratio, make sure the communication feedback loop is calibrated between providers, and do their best as a health system to coordinate excellent care. That is what we in HR call, "an area of opportunity". In other words, provide good care, step up to the plate, return people's phone calls, and quit acting like you're doing everyone a favor by saving their life. You're getting paid! Now start acting like it!
