The Rosette Nebula

The Rosette Nebula is not the only cosmic cloud of gas and dust to evoke the imagery of flowers -- but it is the most famous. At the edge of a large molecular cloud in Monoceros, some 5,000 light years away, the petals of this rose are actually a stellar nursery whose lovely, symmetric shape is sculpted by the winds and radiation from its central cluster of hot young stars. The stars in the energetic cluster, cataloged as NGC 2244, are only a few million years old, while the central cavity in the Rosette Nebula, cataloged as NGC 2237, is about 50 light-years in diameter. The nebula can be seen firsthand with a small telescope toward the constellation of the Unicorn (Monoceros).

More
Do you guys vote for more car photos or less car photos?

(I made the mistake the other night during a G+ Hangout of saying I didn't think that women liked car photos very much... the chatroom said I was totally wrong, so I openly admitted my mistaken thinking! hehe)

As part of my job at +Rackspace Hosting I study when other companies, even outside of the tech industry, provide extraordinary customer service.

+Ariel Ceja who owns http://www.bistrosabor.com/ in Napa is one of those rare entrepreneurs who stands out from the crowd.

My friend +Brett Schulte and I were just walking down a street and decided to drop in on this place without looking at our mobile phones to check it out, and it was incredible. The vibe, the food, the service. All of it.

Then I opened up Foursquare and Foodspotting and saw that everything online matched the experience we were having. One of the Foursquare tips was "say hi to Ariel." So, we asked the guy serving us "is Ariel here" and he quickly showed up. Wait a second, he isn't old enough to be the owner, is he? Reminds me when I first met +Matt Mullenweg (the guy who started Automattic, AKA the folks who publish Wordpress).

But he's so passionate and humble. Where his family came from explains all (his family works in the fields).

It makes me pissed that we want to kick immigrants out of our country. They add so much. Just listen in on my conversation with Ariel and what he's doing with his one-year-old restaurant (that was packed tonight, by the way).

America, you want to create jobs? Talk to Ariel. He's doing it (and his staff loves their jobs, by the way). Listen in. This is a great American entrepreneurial story:

Inspiring. If you come to Napa, drop by and say hi to Ariel.

UPDATE: earlier in the day I was drinking a $10,000 bottle of wine with famous wine maker Gustavo Brambila and here's my interview with him:

Don't know who he is? He was portrayed in the movie Bottle Shock, details here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustavo_Brambila
