Cooking in a slow cooker is like having a Leave-it-to-Beaver wife. At the end of the day, when you want dinner, it is ready and waiting. Sink into your recliner, slide on those comfy slippers, ruffle up the hair of your adorable and earnest kids, read the paper and dinner is served.

Smash Roasted Potatoes: Perfect for Superbowl
Crackly and roasted around the edges, soft and tender inside. Sounds like an ornery old man with a heart of gold, but we’re talking about spuds here. This is what you get when you smash-roast little baby red and white potatoes. They’re beautiful, in a homey/homely way– but looks go only so far. These are better than good looking: the combination of crisp and creamy textures and salty potato goodness make them irresistibly delicious.

They are great to make when you’re having company, because you get most of the work done in advance. Boil, smash and brush as much as a day ahead, then pop them in the oven just before serving.

Easy, Incredibly Tasty Peruvian Chicken Wings for Superbowl (or anytime)
Yes, it can be this easy to make wings for Superbowl– wings that people will devour within minutes. All you do is cut ‘em up, throw them on a baking sheet, and when they are just about done, mix a few ingredients together and brush the mixture on the wings. Bake 5 more minutes and you’re done. Yup– that’s it.

http://asweetandsavorylife.com/that-golden-green-elixir-california-olive-oil/ Here's some reading for in between all those fun Superbowl commercials.
Remember when you thought the best wines could only come from France-- certainly not California? Well, guess who is making great olive oil now...
There was a time, in the beginning of my love affair with olive oil nearly two decades ago, when I thought all good extra virgin olive oil came from Italy. A number of years later, I  expanded my geographical horizons to

Meatloaf Muffins

These nifty meatloaf muffins not only taste great, they do the portion control for you. And as long as I’m singing their praises, allow me to point out they make a delicious, easy lunch the next day. Leftover meatloaf sandwiches? Bah, humbug: I don’t miss the bread when these are on the menu.
