The Krug demonstrates his commitment to eliminating income inequality with a two-semester position (paid more than I make in two years) to “play a modest role in our public events” and “contribute to the build-up” of a new “inequality initiative” at City College of New York.

I'm sure the students going into debt to attend CCNY will be delighted to know that he "will not be expected to teach or supervise students" over the two semesters of this engagement and that their involvement with him will consist solely of funding his handsome retainer.
In late February, the City University of New York announced that it had tapped Princeton economist and New York Times blogger Paul Krugman for a distinguished professorship at CUNY’s Graduate Center and its Luxembourg Income Study Center, a research arm devoted to studying income patterns and their effect on inequality.

There was a good quote about Krugman by Larry Summers on Krugman's Wikipedia page. It was removed since I originally saw it but the essence was that Krugman is more an attention whore than he is a serious economist.

If this were to ever become implemented, it would represent a huge cultural shift.

Story
Introduction
I do software. Occasionally I fly airplanes. I love many kinds of music.

Long ago, you could learn a lot about someone by reading their bookshelf. From 1996 to about 2003, my personal website  served as my publically-readable bookshelf. These days, we have LibraryThing

For professional stuffs, it's all LinkedIn all the time.

Even worse than being able to read my bookshelf is reading my bookmarks. I use Diigo for that lately, only because I'm afraid Del.icio.us is going to vanish in the night sometime.

I think virtual worlds like Open Wonderland and  Second Life are kinda interesting.
