I'd much prefer this logo to the current one.
I know I'm too late but I've designed a logo for London 2012.

Google X: my generation's Area 51.

Somehow, though, I'm much more optimistic that Google is working on society-benefiting applications behind closed doors rather than Department of Defense projects.

Terrific article discussing the design process in relation to development and engineering and how to see that both sides of the equation are balanced.

Terrific concept (granted, with a few flaws). I imagine another issue could be a receding (or, more generally, evolving) shoreline.

224th birthday? I suppose Google is too innovative to simply celebrate the more traditionally monumental dates (50 years, 100 years, etc...).
Google originally shared:

We're saying "merci beaucoup" to Louis Daguerre with a doodle on our homepage to celebrate what would have been his 224th birthday. This 19th century French inventor revolutionized photography when he created the daguerreotype.

Fascinating idea. We'll see if it catches on.

The Lytro is going to change the way we take photographs.
A truly revolutionary new camera from a Silicon Valley start-up allows you to change the focal point of an image after you've taken it.

"Twenty-five percent is not a joke. That’s a lot of people. That’s a lot of talent and energy and potential that could be used somewhere other than crunching numbers to generate wealth. Perhaps there won’t be fancy popcorn at some other job – but it’s about time we started popping it for ourselves."

My family and I very much enjoyed dining at this terrific venue in downtown Chattanooga this Sunday evening. The menu provided numerous mouth-watering options, making it difficult to decide what to order. We ended up trying a lot of different items, all of which were terrific. Even the table bread that preceded the meal was premium. When asked, our waitress noted that it was homemade "in-house" by the matriarch of the establishment. To make a longer story a bit shorter...this place was terrific! Good location, very tasty food made from fresh ingredients, a friendly wait-staff, and a nod to environmental consciousness (they recycle all of their used bottles, they have solar panels installed on the building itself, and they provide EV charging stations in their parking lot). I highly-recommend that you try out 212 Market Restaurant the next time you're in Chattanooga. We'll be back soon.
