Thanks to TableTop (on ) I’ve really gotten interested in tabletop games. Most recently, I picked up Zombie Dice and have been teaching my daughters to play. If you don’t know how to play, watch this informative intro (goo.gl/uQE2bD) by !
It’s interesting to see how my 6 year old will seriously consider whether to keep rolling after getting one shotgun blast, no matter how many brains she has at the time. Meanwhile, my 4 year old would never stop rolling, so I’m currently limiting her to three rolls per turn for now. It seems to have worked in her favor, as she’s won twice.
We also have a travel edition of Qwirkle (goo.gl/hp8BRM) that I’ve been bringing to family functions. Everyone’s been enjoying that and it’s so easy to carry, explain, set up and play.
Cards Against Humanity has been a real joy to play when we have college friends over for dinner that we don’t see all too often (quite possibly because we have kids and they don’t). For a more family friendly card game, we’ve also got Dixit, which is sort of like Apples to Apples, but with pretty, pretty pictures.
And then there’s Ticket to Ride, which has caused some controversy between family members due to blocked routes and alliances being formed. It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to play this one in real life (I have it on my phone), although it’s more due to the lack of time and space that it takes to play than any hurt feelings.
On my current wish list: Munchkin, Fluxx, Tsuro, Catan Jr.
What’s your favorite game right now?
