Well, thanks to the awesome work of +Cemil Azizoglu, it's now time to run the full unity8 in a mir server that renders on X11!
This is just awesome, especially for developers.
Also, there's a bonus point here: the whole thing is running from a wily LXC container (privileged, but I believe that at this point it could be even unprivileged), so you don't have to mess with your (main) system with bleeding edge code.
Once you compiled the latest mir (along with the dependencies such as qtmir and qtubuntu...) you just can use a script such as http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/12434389/ to get this working.
