Marco Kalz is Associate Professor at the Centre for Learning Sciences and Technologies (CELSTEC) at the Open University of the Netherlands. Marco is a fellow of the Interuniversity Center for Educational Sciences (ICO) and the Dutch research school information and knowledge systems (SIKS). He is the chair of the special interest group on Technology-Enhanced Assessment (SIG TEA) of the European Association of Technology-Enhanced Learning (EATEL). He is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Technology-Enhanced Learning (IJTEL) and serves as program committee member of the core conferences in the TEL field. Over the last 5 years he could secure approx. 880 000 EUR of research funding for his institution. He was involved in the last years in European projects like TENCompetence or OpenScout and is currently scientific director of the European project EMuRgency. Besides European projects he was and is regularly involved in educational innovation projects at the Open University of the Netherlands and in cooperation with other partners. His research interest lies on the use of pervasive technologies and formative assessment to support self-directed lifelong learning. He has more than 30 peer-reviewed journal publications and conference papers in the TEL field.
