Lives in Stockholm, SE

Finally I got my tripod back with me. When I moved to Sweden I could not take it with me in the luggage, but recently I went back to Poland and this time I got it with me. But frankly, this picture was taken without a tripod. ;)

People waiting for something, or somebody, is probably one of the easiest topic in street photography. There is one problem though, should the picture be in black and white or colour? I made this in BW because of the white glassy celling in the foreground, but I also like it in colour so maybe I will post that too in several days.

Taking nice pictures of monuments is one of my biggest weakneses, they just do not look good in my pictures. In Gothenburg at this time of year the Sun is very low and very often cuts everything in half - I think it made this monument look interesting.

I hope I have not over done that picture. Recently I can only edit pictures on my laptop and somehow I do not trust the color space it can represent ....

Hotel Pigalle

In Gothenburg we stayed at a hotel close to the central station. The location was very central but that is not what is the most interesting about it. Its name is Pigalle and it has a very nice bar, or rather bars on the bottom and top floors. From what we have seen people mostly come there to drink wine and taste some cheeses. But what I liked the most was the interior of the hotel, how it was decorated, and the big windows on the main street - in the evening they made a very nice background for the pictures, see below.

Somewhere in Haga in Gothenburg, Sweden. That is one of my favourite pictures I managed to take during the Christmas this year. And those leading lines. ;)

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I play with photography, and share it with the world.
I have graduated in mathematics and economics but I do not use either of those in my daily job. Everyday I do some kind of analyst work fooling around in Excel, Access, Postgres and SAS. Most of the time I write some stuff in VBA or look for data in various systems. It is not so easy as it may seem if you consider the number of systems you have to take into account and the relations between them.

If I do not work I try to stay fit, take pictures or try to learn something new. Recently I have discovered the HDR photography and I try to read more about it. I own Canon 500D with Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM and try to make some use of it. While editing my pictures I use a *sRGB* color range. I also have a LCD which has a preset sRGB settings, which makes my life easier. Nevertheless, I am always curious how does colors in my pictures look for most of you.

My pictures come from many countries around Europe, as for now those are Poland, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, Hungary, Finland. Hopefully more to come ....

I try to upload at least one photo a day, but sometimes I just do not have enough time. Moreover, the links I share are of high quality, i.e., no crappy images, sales, articles etc. I have started a daily photography theme #self-portrait-saturday. If you want your post, with a self portrait, to appear on the G+ page dedicated to the theme, please add a #self-portrait-saturday to the post. Do not forget to mention me in the post, or notify me in any other way. So, I would not miss it.

If you like reading books, fantasy in particular, I suggest reaching for Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen. Great and epic series. Below is my favourite quote from one of the books.

"It was said
she turned the blade on herself then
to steal the magic
of life.
