Day 3 in the Snappy Sprint hotel. Weather is Scorchio. With the help of +Kevin Gunn and +Oliver Grawert we've sorta kinda got Unity 8 and Mir running on the +Raspberry Pi 3. More hacking on that later. In the session running now +openSUSE demonstrate the prototype OBS snap integration and the +Snapcraft devs help solve some integration issues. Talk of an openSUSE snap store too 😀 #snappysprint

“In open source you yourself can go in and modify the code. You can add features and improve things. In addition to this ability to modify the code, you can also get support from commercial vendors like Red Hat. It’s a great business model and we like it.” - Tom Soderstrom, IT chief technology officer of NASA JPL.
A close encounter with the IT chief technology officer of NASA JPL.

Only problem: Microsoft, Redhat, Symantec ... have same institutional shareholders. In fact, Microsoft = Redhat, Redhat = Microsoft. Their biggest customer: U.S. government.

Redhat uses same closed source PKI infrasructure, Microsoft uses. Same code base behind. Same trojans, same endorsement keys, same root keys. Also see key escrow. Means: What ever you encrypt with Microsoft, Redhat or Symantec products, can be decoded by NSA.

Learn how to encrypt your flash drives with two simple tools in this tutorial from Jack Wallen:
If you travel with sensitive data, you know there are always risks that your information could be lost or stolen. Depending on the nature of your data, that could be a disaster. To that end, you might want to consider encrypting those flash drives. Once encrypted, a passphrase will be required to gain access to said data. No passphrase, no data.
