Riera de Martinet, Aiguafreda (Catalonia)

After a few months of dry weather, it has been raining a lot in Catalonia. This is great news for our forests, and it is also a great opportunity to enjoy the best views of our creeks, and waterfalls. A few days ago I went to visit the Riera de Martinet (Martinet’s Creek). The last time I visited this place it was almost dry and now it is a pleasure to see and hear how the water runs free between the rocks!

I have visited this La Fageda d'en Jordà many times in the last years. For me it is so difficult to resist the temptation to take pictures on it peaceful footpaths, especially in the fall.

I recently did a short visit to Besalú; it’s a well preserved medieval town in the Girona province worth visiting. If you have not been yet there, I really recommend it.

Visiting the Costa Brava is always a pleasure, and walking along “El Camí de Ronda”, a coastal footpath that goes from Blanes to Portbou, it gives to you the opportunity to discover amazing sceneries like this one. I toke it near Sant Antoni de Calonge. You can read more about this photo at: http://www.marcgcphotography.com/g/cami

Early this week, I was visiting ‘Les Roques Encantades’ (The Enchanted Rocks). This is one of my favorite places; somehow I always have been attracted by the calm feeling that comes from the forest. I was there hooping the capture the fall colors. However, the trees were not fully changed but there were yellow tones all over the place.

LLac de Banyoles (Catalonia)

The Lake of Banyoles is one of the most famous lakes in Catalonia. It is located in the Province of Girona, and it was named after the nearby town of Banyoles. I always wanted to take a picture of a long jetty; and that day, after completing the 9 kilometers that takes to do an entire lap around the lake I had a few good opportunities.

Vilanova Street (Monells, Catalonia)

This photo is from my last visit to Monells, a medieval town in the comarca (county) of the Baix Empordà, not far from Girona in the North-Est of Catalonia. It is a small village but walking across the cobbled streets you can feel like you get a few centuries back in time.

Walking Through La Grevolosa (Sant Pere de Torelló, Catalonia)

This was the first sight I had on my arrival to the Grevolosa forest; the feeling of calm that came to me at the gates of this old-growth forest was overwhelming. I had to stop walking, I got my camera ready, and I took this picture at that very moment. La Grevolosa it is one of the most spectacular beech forest in Catalonia; and it is located in the Llancers mountains range.

By the way, did you know that regular visits to old-growth forest can be beneficial for your health?

Cala dels Esculls (Sant Antoni de Calonge, Catalonia)

I took this photo in my last visit to Sant Antoni de Calonge, the idea was to visit a few coves along the “Camí de Ronda”; a beautiful coastal path that cross along all the Costa Brava region. This is “La Cala dels Esculls” (Reef Cove), it is a small beach surrounded by beautiful landscape; the perfect place to spend a free summer day.

Pals, A Lovely Medieval Village (Catalonia)

I took this photo in Pals, in the North-Est of Catalonia. When I started walking inside this medieval village I got surprised by nice cobbled streets, stone arches, and the well preserved houses with their Romanesque and Gothic doorways and windows... It’s like getting straight back to the middle ages!
