"Why is it legitimate to discriminate when wrapped in the cloak of religion, but it wouldn’t have been acceptable if it were a view grounded in old-fashioned secular thinking about the proper roles for men and women or dislike some people have toward homosexuals?"

Why indeed? I'm not anti-theist, if people want to have a religion that's fine but I'd definitely like to see the end of religious privilege.

Hi all,

I'm fairly new to Victoria, but am loving it here so far. Have been wandering the city a bit to take in the views - http://www.flickr.com/photos/marcjboudreau/sets/72157637683905455/

Managed to get one backpacking trip in so far - http://www.flickr.com/photos/marcjboudreau/sets/72157640197350685/

And even got to experience a Victoria "winter" - http://www.flickr.com/photos/marcjboudreau/sets/72157640640130704/

So far it's been great here!

"The only barrier between men and feminism comes from within men themselves, because it requires us to admit that we have played an unwitting, unconscious role in perpetuating sexism throughout our lives simply by doing what was expected of us. "

Fantastic, video! Captures so perfectly why so many of us wander off into the mountains and then share those experiences with others in our lives through our stories, and pictures.

If you're interested in reading some trip reports, www.ripplewake.ca, along the right hand side of the screen, you'll see a list of links to trip reports, mostly ocean paddling.
The site belongs to a friend of mine, and he may very well be one of the most experienced ocean canoers in Canada.

Displaying a breast in any context on your PC is one of the things here that fits that mould.  It's an awkward line to draw, but that's how it is.
Perception of harassment is in the eye of the victim, no?

14 years ago today a horrible act of violence took place in Montreal. Today is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, today we remember, so that we'll never forget to take a stand against this.

Great place for produce, a good selection and fair pricing. I live locally and prefer to shop locally as well so Donald's is my go to store for all of it.
