I've mentioned this before to some people but thought it might be valuable to relay this more openly to everyone. If you want to understand the cultural DNA of a social organization, just read any article relating to W.L. Gore & Associates. Actually not just any but many because collectively they give you a more comprehensive layered look from multiple perspectives.
Here are a handful of articles that stand out for me.

The Fabric of Creativity
What's interesting about this organization is that while no one can command you how to contribute (especially leaders), the people within the organization seem self-driven to understand themselves (i.e. their strengths, talent, and passion), so that they can contribute in greater and greater ways to the organization and society in turn.
"For much of the twentieth century, consumer markets were stable. Today, they are tumultuous, and you’re only as good as your last product."
Today, this isn't the case. So much information is flowing now that people can often easily see past the facade, see if a company is authentic or not, and share this will others. Thus the brand, facade, and boundaries of organizations are disappearing and people are seeing you for what you really are, your deeper culture and characteristics.
Because of this you really have to decide what kind of person and organization you want to be and live it through your actions, rather than just preaching it through your words.
