Finally starting to see uses for big data and data mining that I approve of! Yesterday, breast cancer research. Today food!
By studying the network of links between Indian recipes, computer scientists have discovered that the presence of certain spices makes a meal much less likely to contain ingredients with flavors in common.

This version is primarily a bug fix release, though it does include a handful of new features - primarily unit testing support, watch face templates, mipmap icons, many new lint checks, and basic BCP47 3-letter language code support, along with support for the new version of the Android Gradle plugin, also version 1.1.

We just launched a Chinese language and captioned YouTube channel, aiming to make it easier for the developers in China to learn more about Google services and technologies around mobile, web and the cloud. The channel ( includes original content in Chinese (Mandarin speaking), and curates content from the English version of the Google Developers channel with Simplified Chinese captions.

A special thank you to the volunteers in Google Developers Group community in the city of Nanyang (Nanyang GDG - in China, for their effort and contribution in adding the Chinese language translations to the English language Google Developer Channel videos on YouTube. Over time, we will produce more Chinese language original content, as well as continue leveraging GDG volunteers in China to add more Chinese captioned English videos from Google Developer Channel, to serve the learning needs from developers.

A plea for Bug Data where it counts. With thanks to +Benjamin Hill
I am dying, literally, at my home in Hollywood, of metastatic breast cancer, the only kind of breast cancer that kills. For six years I've known I was going to die. I just didn't know when.
Michele Weslander Quaid's profile photoTerence Stigers's profile photo
"We now know that breast cancer is not one disease. What works for one person might not for another: There is no one “cure.” We are each, in effect, one-person clinical trials. Yet the knowledge generated from those trials will die with us because there is no comprehensive database of metastatic breast cancer patients, their characteristics and what treatments did and didn't help them.

In the Big Data-era, this void is criminal. Consider what Wall Street does. Even the tiniest companies can see how much stock they sell, compare themselves to cohorts, review history, predict trends. Why can't we create such a database for cancer patients, so we can all learn from patient experiences and make more educated decisions on what treatments will extend and improve lives?"

#cloudcomputing  could go a long way to addressing this #bigdata   #bigdataanalytics  issue

Wasn't unhappy, just forgot to smile. Sometimes I have resting-bear-face. #Geohipster. Found out that Twitter and FB strip the EXIF data, while G+ preserves it which is cool. You can see where I took the picture in the Photo details. Remember though that the location is where the phone was, not necessarily where what was pictured resides.
