NEWS: Vêtements' Demna Gvasalia replaces Alexander Wang at Balenciaga

When Alexander Wang went out of favour with the bosses of Balenciaga in August, speculation was rife about the next young designer to assume the hot seat that Nicolas Ghesquière vacated after a 15-year tenure. According to WWD, Demna Gvasalia has been chosen to fill fashion’s hottest vacancy. The 34-year-old is the head designer of Vêtements, an alternative fashion collective based in Paris that has seven collaborators working behind the scenes, all of whom have experience at the design department of Maison Martin Margiela. Gvasalia comes with a solid fashion foundation having studied at the famous Royal Academy of Fine Arts and honing his craft at Louis Vuitton and Margiela prior to Vêtements.

Right about now, you’re wondering if this is a buddy cop comedy you haven’t seen the trailer for. Well, this isn’t a remake of 'Lethal Weapon' or 'Rush Hour' but a campaign drop for H&M’s fall collection, a special capsule line curated by longtime collaborator David Beckham. Along for the ride is funny man Kevin Hart, whose fictional role in the campaign is to research the mannerisms of the retired footballer for his next screen part… as Beckham. So Hart spends a week with Beckham in his house, mimicking his accent, using his toothbrush, and even getting into an ice bath.
