Our Elephant and Rhino populations are being decimated at an unprecedented rate. If we do nothing in not to many years these animals will be extinct. Once they are gone they will be gone forever.
On Saturday 4 October all over the world a march is taking place to raise awareness of the issues affecting these wonderful giants. Join one to the UK marches these are taking place in Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol and London.
The March for Elephants and Rhinos needs your support. It must make a difference. If we do nothing horns and ivory will be turned into quack medicine and carved trinkets. Do something and we can continue sharing our planet with these magnificent animals.

There is a shocking article in this month’s edition of the BBC Wildlife Magazine. A report by Kirstin Nowell, a top cat expert from CITES, concludes the trade in live Cheetahs as pets, to the Persian Gulf is affecting the populations for these Critically Endangered cats in East Africa.
The cats are smuggled from Somalia into the Persian Gulf states, where they are kept as pets. Each animal can be worth up to $10000.
We have been fortunate to watch wild Cheetah hunt and play on the savannahs of Kenya. But this could become a thing of the past if nothing is done.
One organisation trying to make a difference is the Cheetah Conservation Fund http://www.cheetah.org.

Get involved! World Elephant Day is your chance to celebrate a species that is loved, revered and respected the world over.
This is one day dedicated to Elephants celebrate your love for these wonderful self-aware animals. If you can help by raising awareness of the problems of poachers, killing Elephants for ivory and the trade in carved ivory goods. Tell your friends and colleagues, together we may be able to prevent the extinction of this species in our lifetimes.
Lend your support (or money) by helping our wild Elephants.

The Wildlife Trusts Nature Finder
A new app produced by The Wildlife Trusts has made the task of finding a nature reserve a whole lot easier. You can download the free app for iPad or iPhone from the Apple iTunes Store https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/wildlife-trusts-nature-finder/id720696183.
What do you get when you download “Nature Finder”? A UK map showing the locations of over 2000 of the Wildlife Trusts nature reserves. The Wildlife Trusts have reserves that cover all different types of habitat from moors, heaths, meadows, woods and lakes. No matter where you live in the country there is sure to be a Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve somewhere near to you. The app is optimised for the iPhone 5 or iPod but works in vertical mode on the iPad. So no matter what Apple device you have you can find the nearest reserve.
Once you have found a reserve near you simply click on the reserve pin to get more details about that reserve. It includes the habitat, when the reserve is open and best time to visit, even directions from your current location. Along with the information about the reserves the app also contains a directory of all 47 Wildlife Trusts with contact information and events taking place.
This is a great app for finding wildlife in your area.
